trolls using ladders?

I was defending Carn Dum from an invasion called by Sauron, and during the battle, the trolls avoided the gates and went directly to the ladders that were placed by other orc troops and climbed them. in my opinion trolls shouldn't be able to climb ladders because trolls are way to big for any type of ladders made. Just an idea to maybe make a change in a later patch to even out the play. it was hard enough to have to battle back 4000 orcs at my gates, but then i had to worry about another 1700 orcs and 4 companies of trolls climbing ladders, destroying what little troops i had left to defend the walls and flanking me. just an idea, the past is in the past and i will eventually take back the city but just wanted to suggest an idea.

I'm pretty sure this is an engine limitation.They wouldn't function properly as cavalry, so they have to be heavy infantry. And infantry of all sorts can use ladders, whether we think they should or not.

Yea nothing you can do about the trolls thing unfortunately :/ Whenever I see trolls in a seige army, I immediately sally out to stop them from climbing the walls. It is really funny to see them climb up the ladders though hahaha

well, some trolls might be able to scale a wall using ladders due to their smaller stature (snow trolls for instance). as far as the other trolls climbing ladders, I don't really see it that often as theyre usually reserved by the AI as shock troops for when the gate falls.

You can make trolls not to be able to be on ships, but you can't stop them from climbing ladders. Maybe Orcish ladders could be made to look a little stronger for trolls?

In the two towers film you had those massive ladders used to storm the keep at helms deep. They could realistically take the weight and size of a troll.

I think the solution for this is making the ladders 2x bigger and with a more rough look.

I might be wrong with this but don't all the ladders (for all the factions) have to be the same. If you change the Mordor ladders then everyone would have them.

This. I prefer to just invision the trolls climbing up the wall itself (or smashing through it, in essence, if it's smaller ).

You are wrong. Haven't you ever noticed the difference with good factions' and evil factions' siege... umm... objects? But, Mordor, OotMM, OoG and Isengard all should have those sturdy ladders.

One thing I miss trolls being able to do, that I may or may not remember from the RTW version, was their ability to smash gates down.

Hm, if they were made as elephants instead, they won't be able to climb the ladders and they would be able to smash the gates, but then it would create other problems...

Because trolls would then be running around and just crushing everyone. That would be really untroll-ish.

Because then they wouldn't act as infantry in the open field but would attempt to flank etc. Never really saw the reasons as a disadvantage tbh, long pointy things hurt trolls (spears etc.) and they don't climb mini ladders. Oh and they would be able to knock down some gates, and could go berserk.

It would be great to have the specialized opinion of the creators of the mod about this matter. Personally, i think having them acting as "heavy infantry" is not correct, but perhaps this is due to gameplay issues.

It's strange all you say about the perfomance on the field. I've played little the mod but I've never seen the easterling heavy cavalry flanking my Dale army. Not sure about the mumak (I haven't seen any yet).

Well, it seems fitting that they can handle rams too. I think they cannot use a tower though, is that right?
