    Default Game Rules

    Characters:
Each player is allowed to RP one main character, any aux characters are allowed but are not protected by the rules, though Mods will use their common sense in any silly game ruining aux play.

All main characters must be registered here.

    Professions
While a large degree of creativity is encouraged, all rule sets will be based around one of the two established player paths. These are Nobility, and Clergy. Nobles are based around the promotion of rank - usually following the Knight -> Baron -> Earl -> Duke system. The Clergy is based around a similar rank system - Monk -> Priest -> Bishop -> Archbishop - and the exercise of political power. Note that in this time period it is typical for clergy to have authority far over their actual power.

    Births
Each character can request a birth roll once every game year using the following table:

No Physician (literally on your own without medical assistance)
    Chance of Wife's survival: 12/20
    Chance of Child's survival: 10/20

Poor Physician - Knights and Priests and above
    Chance of Wife's survival: 14/20
    Chance of Child's survival: 12/20

Average Physician - Barons and Bishops and Above
    Chance of Wife's survival: 16/20
    Chance of Child's survival: 14/20

Renowned Physician - Dukes and Archbisops
    Chance of Wife's survival: 18/20
    Chance of Child's survival: 16/20

King's Physician (reserved only for... Guess who?)
    Chance of Wife's survival: 19/20
    Chance of Child's survival: 17/20

    Deaths
At the age of 60 main characters will get a weekly death roll with chance of death being 5/20, if rolled for death the mods will give you a moderate amount of time to finish of your epic tale, though this character can not be involved in any rolled situations or other things that may have an impact on other characters.

    Heirs
Only rolled heirs of your main characters direct line can automatically receive everything the previous main controlled. All other characters of relation are considered branches of the house and inheritance is up to the King.

    Traits
From the age of 15, a trait can be bought once every 5 years. These traits will cost 5 pounds each and can stack. However, these traits can degrade with age and a roll will be applied every ten years after the purchase of the first trait. Traits can also be given and removed by a moderator due to RP e.g. winning a siege may see a positive trait awarded whilst losing a limb may see the removal of another.
    Armies:
    Rank Based
    Freemen: 10
    Knight: 50
    Barons: 500
    Earls: 1000
    Dukes: 2000
    King: 5000

    Personalised Troop Types
Due to RP now playing an important part in battles, the effective utilisation of specialised troop types can win the day. 4/5s of a lord’s levies will be light infantry which can comprise of spearman, bowmen etc. 1/5 of a lord’s levies can now be comprised of special professional troops which add bonuses to battles, (number of special troops on each side will be compared, giving the bonus to the side with the most special troops, regardless of actual type). With or without battle bonuses, effective RP of these troops can see a decisive victory.

These troops are professional and thus always ready. The remaining levy takes 3 real days to fully assemble. Income is halved when levies are raised to represent a loss of manpower, people working the fields etc.

    Baron and upwards:
Every 100 professional troops cost 9 pounds and an annual ½ pound to maintain.

Personalised troops must be defined and purchased here.

    Battles:
Battles follow a simple format as below:

Number of troops x (D20 roll + Mod RP value (+/- 0-10)) = Battle Score

The highest battle score wins the battle, mods will determine the casualties based on the battle scores and RP.

The main characters on the losing side will be given death/capture/escape rolls with chances decided by the mods based on the battle scores and RP.

The battle roll will be performed AFTER the initial battle RP's have been conducted (planning, leadership, speeches!!, etc) this initial RP will direct their Mod RP value +/-.
    Assassinations:
There will be no set in stone assassination rules, instead the assassination RP will be conducted through the mods, who will determine the D20 chances based on the situation, the RP, any items used (and how they are used) and common sense. This D20 chance will remain unseen.

Secret assassinations will be performed by the assassin RPing through the mods via PM's, the mods will then post in the relevant thread removing the identity of the assassin. The victims will be given the chance to RP their response (WARNING MODS WILL HEAVILY USE THE NO ONE POST WIN ideal here, so no "and he jumped out the window and escaped into the darkness where the assassin couldn't find him" type posts, use common sense, make it fun). The mod will then do the actual roll at the climax of the RP (remember mods like RP too, the better it is the more secret brownie points lol).
    Duels
Duel rules will be left up to the people involved, if no agreement can be reached then the mods will use the age old first to three roll off affected by items.
    Money
There is no money in the game, all wealth is considered rp only.
    Inhertiance
When characters die one of the three following circumstances will occur in relation to the characters troops.

Scenario 1: Player dies there is no war and their is a clear heir. Result: 100 percent continuity no troops leave.
Scenario 2 Player dies during a war/battle and there is a clear leader either in the coalition (ie another player) or an heir that is of age.Result: Continuity troops remain for the duration of the campaign then possibly can desert.
Scenario 3 Player dies during war there is no clear leader only an auxiliary Marshall for example. Result: Large scale desertion from the army troops see no reason to fight on and begin to integrate themselves to a new lord.
