Is it possible with the moors to let your princess marry someone of a Catholic faction?
Units that are stationed in a ford do they cost upkeep?
Thanks in advance

As far as I remember, Moors donīt even have princesses (at least not in vanilla), and units cost upkeep even in forts.
However, princesses of catholic factions can marry moorish family members.
As for free upkeep in castles: that only applies to a maximum of 2 knight units, and only if that castle (or citadel, actually) has a Tourney Field.

I've been able to marry Orthodox princes with Catholic princes to make marriage alliances. Don't ask me how. It was on vanilla and somehow it worked.
The free upkeep slots for tourney field in vanilla m2tw last I heard was bugged and didn't actually work.
The 2 free upkeep slots in forts in the Britannia expac however does work.
I never said anything about the relations between orthodox and catholic princesses, I just stated that non-muslim princesses can marry muslim family members.
And I was talking about vanilla M2TW, where forts do not have free upkeep but Citadels do (though you are correct that itīs a little unreliable - itīs only certain units that can be kept without upkeep, usually knights)
I noticed that miss, too![]()

Oops yup meant Princesses marrying Princes.
How do you actually get free upkeep in vanilla m2tw? I've never actually seen it work with Knights. (ie didn't get the unit to be slightly blued out signifying free upkeep) (I know what building to use-tourney fields, but have always heard that it was bugged)
Yeah, it is.
I never rely on it either, and prefer to just use garrisons of minimal necessary size with foot soldiers.
But I recall that the free upkeep of Tourney Field is supposed to regard knights - maybe it only works for certain elite knight units?
If so, it may also be that it doesnīt even provide that benefit to some of the factions that can build it.
Time to start a few campaigns and try it out, I think...![]()

You have to be able to produce a unit in that location to get free upkeep for it. For example, you can produce Spear militia in any civilian settlement with the right building but Saracen Militia can only be produced in a city. This means you can get free upkeep for Saracen Militia in a city with the right buildings but you can never get free upkeep for it in a town or castle.
That's not it. The Tourney gives a regular 1 free upkeep slot like in cities. Problem is there is no unit that can be trained in castles which has the free_upkeep_unit attribute in EDU. The only units with this attribute have "Militia" in it's name. And in case anyone's wondering, if forts have free upkeep slots (Brittania and some mods), the attribute isn't needed, any unit can have free upkeep in fort.
