Hey guys, I've been with TGW since nearly the beginning and damn, it has come a long ass way, for the better. Just started as Germany and I love the balance. Although not starting with standing armies is kinda odd, I actually liked it as I could build armies the way I like and also test out the units.
Combat: Holyhas artillery come a long way. The shell impacts are beautiful done. Any plans for bigger artillery pieces? Like 105mm, French 75mm?
I faced a Russian army twice my size, but had three 12mm arty to fight with and I decimated their lines of infantry. It truly is a game changer now, though still seems a little overpowered.
Naval: just had my first battle with 4 destroyers and a battlecruiser vs a Russian fleet of 2 destroyers and a transport ship. I went into this with a NTW/S2 naval mindset and got battered. The speed of the ships took me by surprise and before I knew it, my admiral had been blown to hell with the first Russian broadside. 1 other ship got routed before I regained composure and surrounded the enemy ships. Captured 2 of them.
The thing I noticed is the ships respond a little weird when given a move order, they go farther than they should it seems. Also, I guess this might be addressed in 5.0, but the current ships don't seem to get too much of a benefit for being so expensive it seems. I guess a Nassau or Kaiser class battleship is the equivalent of a 1st rate in NTW?
I'm not sure I you guys tweaked the AI or not, but I am starting to like it. Russia has been building up their forces and have made jabs into east Kongisberg/Warsaw territory. France meanwhile has been timid. Sending stacks in view, but moving backwards. Italy is at peace with me, even though AH is trying to entice me to join war against Italy again.
All in all, I really like it and cannot wait till 5.0. Way to go Mitch and the rest of the TGW team!
