    1. Disable the UAC.
    2. Run as Administrator.

Just putting this out there. Maybe it's related? Maybe SecuRom isn't compatible with Win8 yet?

SecuRom - This application is not compatible with the installed operation system. Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better.

Another user with the same issue: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...0#post12533880
What is this? W8 sucks for M2TW, or they need to run it in compatibility mod?

    A few questions:

    • What is the Daylights Savings time trick? Can you post a link?
    • What language version of the game are you using? Is it English? If it is English then please tell me what country you live in.

    Good luck!

Run Windows Update manually and install all software options?
You mean you disabled the UAC? If so, good move.
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636 from the C: drive icon? Same idea for Vista, Win 7/8.
Install in a folder other than the default one?

Thanks for that. Please try this - change your region setting to the USA and then switch it back to Australia.

I know this sounds stupid but there is a reason I am asking you to do it. There was a bug in Win7 that was fixed by changing the region settings for English users outside of N. America. I'm betting that Win8 is suffering the same problem. Good luck!

Disabling daylight savings helps preventing battle crashes in Third Age TW mod for M2TW:Kingdoms. It is very weird that this fixes most of battle crashes.

It's starting to sound like a Steve Ballmer Win 8 problem.
@Shazzy, did you do the rest of the list?

sorry been away for a few days, i have already made sure daylight saving was off and also shut off the UAC. Neither work and the same message comes up.

I'm not 100% sure its a compatibility problem as its been running fine on windows 8 for about a month now.

I have the english version of Med2 gold and also I am located in the UK.... I'm totally stumped to why its not working all of a sudden, compatibility mode does not even work.

*note* also changing time zone or region and then back to UK again does not work

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?
Have you installed it outside Program files (x86)?

I think you're right. We need to start asking what the filepath for their installation is pointed at.

What I can't explain - why would it work for a few months for all of these users then FUBAR at about the same time for them collectively? Maybe a Win8 update or SecuRom incompatibility? Hard to know....

    Good luck!
