Took me awhile to see what you were talking about. Might want to edit the pic and put a circle around it. I kept looking in your army tab and only saw 44 and was like...um...1, 2, 3,...44...not seeing the 20,000.

That is one odd feature? And they probably regenerate as well.

Im not sure if he has modded the game or not. But if he hasn't it is caused by disbanding units in a city, it makes the unit pool go over max.

I've not modded the game, and it is the only castle where it happens to have so many generals recruitable (plus you can't disband general's bodyguards )

there is a glitch to increase it. I won't say how though. its my secret. I reveal it in my peasant campaign.

No my original game is in Italian and the mod is in English, but it uses some files from the original game so I have the game half in English (most of the written things) and half in Italian (some of the written parts and the voices)
