Thread: AUH Sneak Peeks

    Default AUH Sneak Peeks

In this thread we plan to post screenshots and other artwork from AUH. In many ways to prove we are still active and this mod is still alive, despite the lack of large previews. AUH development has not taken a smooth or linear path as with other mods, and we have a tiny team compared to EB2 and the like. Previews will probably take the form of mini-faction previews, to highlight some of our lesser known factions and show that we have been working on many aspects of AUH over the last few years.

Most of these will represent finished work, but some will still be WIP, so not everything is going to be 100% polished. However, due the loyalty of our fans and their frustration with lack of progress, I'd rather post decent stuff here to encourage more of you to contribute and support AUH than wait any longer.

If you are interested in joining the team, drop me a PM.

To leave us feedback on the sneak peeks, comment here .

    Cheers.

    Xia Dynasty
    Faction mini-preview

The Great Xia Dynasty (posthumous known as the Western or Xi Xia) is an empire established by ethnic Tanguts in what is now Western China. This faction received some early attention from AUH, but has not been fully developed yet as we ran into issues of historical accuracy with their roster and other priorities took over. However, once the Dai Viet preview is released we'll focus on them again. In the meantime here is a preview of their map territory and two infantry units.

    Faction territory
This is a new image that has been developed for the AUH's radar map. However, it is a still a WIP but will serve to show new factions' locations in previews.

    Unit Previews

The "Foot-Treaders" or Bubazi a trained infantry division that specialised in fighting in the mountains. Typically drawn from fierce rugged tribesman on the fringes of their empire, these men are most noted for their natural ability to traverse difficult terrains with great ease. While not heavily armed, these skilled troops are used as very effective light infantries by the Xia in difficult terrain where cavalry can't be properly deployed. On occasion, the Tanguts practiced a tactic of drawing out their enemies to these mountainous areas and then engaging them with these highly-mobile infantry, pushing them back to the plains. Textures are based Dangxiang/Qiangic tribal costumes :- (credits to Rusichi for model parts )

Tangut "Commoners" (Xia Gongshou 輕騎) are auxiliary troops - similar in many respects to Jin Alixi units, they are the most numerically common troops in the Xia army. They are typically drawn from lower-class citizens of the ethnic Tangut tribes and thus their equipment reflects their economic status.

These men fight as foot archers, almost everyone in the service of the Xia army would have been issued bows and arrows by the Xia government, the Xia bow was noted for it high quality. :-

    BattleMap previews
Song Dynasty Level 1 city mini-preview

Whilst other mods focusing on China have been released featuring custom battlemap settlements, AUH has decided to create its own based on historical records and paintings from the era, below are a few screenshots of the basis for the lowest level city to be used for the Song dynasty, and in slightly modified versions for all factions that share 'East Asian' culture. We are starting from scratch so this is going to be a long process. Our new team member evenmov, from the Road to Luoyang Chinese mod team, has been helping implement some of the models we've created so please rep him ! We're especially focusing on the famous Qingming Scroll to lend accuracy to our creation of an average Chinese city.
