Default GUNS VS. SWORDS [multiplayer video]

Hey there, this is my first shogun video and one of my first battles online. I have played 300+hrs on the game but never bothered with online.

I dont really understand how it works but I was pitched against a modern army with lots of black bear infantry and my old school army took them down

Please comment on the video if you like it and have a suggestions about tactics and things. This isnt me spamming videos or anything, It's one interesting shogun video (i think its interesting anyway, but i dont really watch multiplayer battles so maybe this happens alot )

also if it gets a few likes and comments I'll do another one
    thanks again

Thats because guns have line of sight, so if you rush with alot of melee, they are abit screwed, unless your against a few good players.

For your army tactics, you might want to start learning how to form and use multiple groups for your infantry and cav and learn how to preform surround attacks, hard flanking, rear attacks, sending your men in waves and not blobbing them up, positioning your guns to get flanking/back shots off enemy soldiered when your melee is in combat, and lastly don't bring bow infantry unless it is a daikyu sam, bows also suffer Line of sight so they kinda are whacky, plus they arent effective in multiplay.

Did you watch the video? I dont mind if you did or not, just I think my tactics in this video were fairly solid. I never really bunched anybody up too much either. And my bow infantry were really successfull in hitting his troops over the hill.

Any suggestions as to what I shouldve done differently or anything would be appreciated and I'll think about the group.

I did watch it. you didnt group your army, like i.e select units X, Y, Z then press G to make that into group 1, then select units A, S, D then press G to make group 2. that way when you press the number 1 button, you select group 1, units X Y Z, and when you press 2, you select group 2 units A S D. Anyways, when your trying to do a cav fight and your cav is inferior, bring in cav supprt like 2-3 yari ash. You blobbed at 10:50 where that one keybuilding was at. if you sent one of your men to the flanks, you would have caught both of his gun infantry. And bows arent reall worth using, despite getting some volleys off with your bow ash, you only got a small amount of kills each volley.

ah yeah true enough, good observations. I find I don't like grouping much as sometimes it messes up the formations, I probably dont use it correctly, however I do use it at the beginning when i want to move large amounts of units and keep them in the formation I started them in.

I guess your right about the blobbing there, I shouldve stretched them out and probably couldve spare at least 1 to support the cav.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

thats why you use soft grouping, instead of your tradition manual groups.

like those preset formations would fall under soft groups same as Crtl+G. Manual grouping or (hard grouping) is when your make a formation with your units then just press G so they stay in that formation

but wouldnt that potentially put my troops in a formation undesirable? it sounds better (but more difficult) to use hard grouping

most players use hard grouping, because players believe a "formation" really matters but for good skirmishers that flank alot, soft grouping is more valuablle

    like for this replay. http://www.4shared.com/file/uc_kcMdV/GG88.html
[go to your search bar in windows and type %appdata%

    >Roaming Folder
    >The Creative Assembly Folder
    >Shogun 2
    >Replays

drag and drop that file into replays folder, then start up shogun 2, the go watch replays from there. The benefits of being able to change the width and depth of your men is beneficial for many situations, especially choke points.

wow, don't think I've ever had such high praise

make sure to write nice things like that on the video too :L It helps get more views and stuff. If theres more views and things I'll play it more ect.

I always felt my voice held me back, I'm not a personal fan of it :L

Anyway, Im getting a job in march, so I'll upgrade my PC (currently my monitor is a 14inch 6yr old HD (so it says) TV ) so that I can run/edit 1080p video with Sony Vegas or something. I am good at editing, I just use the worst software to do so

In the video I do say I was thinking of doing a more cinematic style of gameplay for the commentary as I didn't know which one would be best...

So stick with me a month or so and comment "MORE shogun 2" or something and I'll definitely do my best to deliver the best content I can

    Thank you very much

I dunno if I'm allowed post after me, just thought I'd announce that I have a new Guns Vs Swords video in the works after I obliterated an army from a general who seemingly had the full rank on the game! Taking back Japan, one battle at a time.
