    Any 3D artists around?

Or just people who tried it before?

Do you have something to show?

I got a few pictures I made with terragen, but i'm more interested of others doing any 3D modelling or even just photo editing or creating 2D stuff using a program.

here is a few of my pictures ( 2yrs ago), I need to start making some new ones,

These aren't really good ones because i was just experimenting with many settings and i didn't have a full understanding of terragen (the 3d software)

these 2 were made for a girl b-day a while ago so ....i'm not with her and i'm sure she deleted it already.

    Some stuff for my thesis:

Once I get the main characters finished, I'll probably post them to show off.

wonder if you can model other games then RTW with this because we all know that only 3DSMAX can import the models into RTW

Nice work Archer. It certainly has my interest if only because some of the principles applied in programs like Terragen are applied for battlefield generation in RTW and can be modded to some extent (see link in my sig). Not nearly as detailed as what you can do in Terragen, Bryce etc. I think render times are prohibitive still for real time applications (though you can do pre-programmed camera paths in detailed environments) and creating a unit AI capable of dealing with such terrain is something else. Who knows what the future holds though.

Terragen is a freeware and they have been planning Terragen 2 to come out.

Terragen was used in many things recently, some movie backgrounds (the day after tomorrow , lord of the rings etc) as well as used in many games to create backdrops and RTW clouds and perhaps the RTW terrain generation might have something to do with it (and can be used, I beleive).

I might post some basics and a picture tutorial (you can download terragen 1.09 for free, but some features are disabled (high AA pass large screens) how to render terrain and what to change for different effects.

by the way..... nice work Mitrandil - definetely you got some talent if you are 15 and professor with 3Dsmax which I find extremely hard to use. I can't even make a frickin sword in Max, lol.

Also for people who are interested in 3D modelling try Blender, which is similar to 3DSMAX but actually easier and more user friendly. It's free, it has an awesome wiki-tutorial and it can do some mighty things.

what to expect for Terragen 2 to do (i'm awestruck)

I had a bit of a play around with the programme. Seems interesting indeed! I think I'll try it some more infact. I've got a couple of screens of my own to show off once I'm back home

Terragen was the program of choice for making skyboxes in Unreal Tournament 2004.. and probably most other FPS games.

In fairness though that terragen2 preview gallery is pretty incredible.. the rendering time would be horrible though
