Help requested :Rome total war has stopped working

Hello everybody.
Seems I have a problem with my Rome Total war.
Whenever I try to play a quick single player game, a multiplayer game or a multiplayer game via Gameranger, my game crashed and gives me an error saying: Rome Total war has stopped working. When I look in the eventviewer i get the following error.

Update your game with the latest patches... that should help.

Your appcrash says 1.0.
Where did you get the game?

I have installed Rome total war Gold edition. This gave me the same error. Then I deinstalled it and installed Rome Total War (standalone). Both are installed from disk, checked the version in options and gave me the same error.

Uninstall all your copies through Add/Remove Programs, delete all traces you can find, run a good, free registry cleaner, reboot,
log in as Administrator, disable the UAC, and install in C:\Games.

Finished deleting stuff and installing them again. A few quick games and multiplayer games worked and then the error reappeared again when connecting trough Gameranger.
I also tried to boot them in compatibility modus but then Rome wouldn't even start.
