Tosa Domain, I suppose, or perhaps the Saga.
Choshu.

probably a stupid suggestion, but shouldnt a poll thread at least have a poll?
for me, it depends. I choose satsuma when i feel like playing with US marines and US ironclad. If I feel like playing British, I use Saga. But I feel like the game is bias to the satsuma as the picture you see of the unit type you recruit is based on the colour of the satsuma.
Saga... They get nagasaki and have + five artillery as well as start wuth a parrott gun
My favorite faction is one with lots of artillery--at least that's the one that I am always playing.
Cheers
Artillery brings dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar brawl!
Tosa . I like their uniform colours (similar to imperials) and tosa riflemen.
I like to actually use traditional units a lot when i play so either Sendai or Aizu...
Nagaoka. They have the best modern infantry in the game, and with the wealth bonus from markets, a great choice to go Republic with.
Definitely Tsu, you're in a great position to expand anywhere seeing as you're surrounded entirely by enemies. Plus, who wouldn't want to conquer Japan sportin' the most FABULOUS colours known to man?
Obama. Because of the most awesome name ever...that and the nice starting location, though the start is shared with the pink girly imperialists of Tsu.
The faction i like is usually dependent on how much money i can get out early and what their modifers are.
I like Tosa for Kii
I like Obama for their awesome modifiers, and the fast military access money you can squeeze out.
I like Sendai when i go for traditional units.
I like Saga when i have an itch for artillery.(No video...yet)
I had a really great campaign with Satsuma lately and pretty much became the largest faction on the mapThe Emperor even made the faction into the Imperial Vanguard. I'm having some problems with mini factions from the other side of the map invading my home island though

I like the Tosa very much. They have nice skirmishers, a nice starting location on the small island, and their general simply looks awesome![]()
Sorry for being a S2 noob, but now after finishing my first campaign as Satsuma(other known as blitzing the rest of the clans and painting the map blue), what is the difference between the clans besides color, position and maybe traits?
It seems to me all factions have the same basic roster(Line infantry that changes over time to Shogunate\Imperial Infantry)
Nope you're correct. Lot of the units are pretty much the same. The main difference between the clans are not the traits (they are neglectable in the long run), but mostly the starting position. Its because of the small geographical scale (compared to rome/medievall or even empire), combined with the era (guns and artillery matter most)
The clan that offers most unit variation is Aizu, cause they have different line infantry units. I have all the clan dlc, but i havent been able to make myself play sendai, obama or saga, since the clans are so similar. Maybe if there were achievements i would have played them
Saga is very fun although it has been the only faction I have played so far. They start off more modernized than the rest (Parrot Gun and a Trade port), but are fairly poor. If your port at Nagasaki gets bombarded then there is a good chance you will lose the game. Maybe not as hard as some of the others but I have really enjoyed them.
Many thanks to the good folks down at the Graphics Workshop for the sig.
