    Default Height of units ents and Trolls lotr refrence

    Hi I was just wondering were in the books does it say the height of the ents and Trolls. I have heard from a few places that the Trolls were anywhere from 8-12 feet tall. I heard the ents were around 12-14 feet tall. The balrog I heard up t0 25 feet tall. Are these accurate to the books these numbers [found online]. If so than the ents in game do seem a little taller than that. I think trolls seem good around 10-12. I think ents should be taller than that maybe 14 on average, but in third age mod they seem to be around 18. Were are my Tolkien scholars?

    thanks

    I have no Idea where in the book it is said, but the height of all unit seems realistic to me. Dwarves, Ents, trolls, Balrog, Sauron etc..

    But as far as I know there were very little ents and big ents

    Ents are like the trees they herd, they are big or small depending on what tree they resemble (an elm will be tall and thin, an oak will be wide and stout etc.).
    Were there but a tree in this godforsaken place i would have hanged myself.

    I thought that was just look not size, that would be cool if not. Than maybe the height is good in this mod.

    I am away from my books, but I am pretty certain that nowhere are actual numbers stated, you have to go by conjecture from the descriptions. The Balrog is tricky BTW, as it can change shape.

    What it was could not be seen: it was like a great shadow, in the middle of which was a dark form, of man-shape maybe, yet greater; and a power and terror seemed to be in it and to go before it... and suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread from wall to wall; but still Gandalf could be seen, glimmering in the gloom; he seemed small, and altogether alone: grey and bent, like a wizened tree before the onset of a storm.
    This is the only part that refers to the Balrog in the LotR, there are probably others in HoME or the Sil but i don't have them atm.

    Here's Ent hight info.;
    They found they were looking at a most extraordinary face. It belonged to a large Man-like, almost Troll-like, figure, at least fourteen foot high, very sturdy, with a tall head, and hardly any neck.
    - about Treebeard, TTT; Treebeard

    Several Ents had already arrived. More were coming in down the other paths, and some were now following Treebeard. As they drew near the hobbits gazed at them. They had expected to see a number of creatures as much like Treebeard as one hobbit is like another (at any rate to a stranger's eye); and they were very much surprised to see nothing of the kind. The Ents were as different from one another as trees from trees: some as different as one tree is from another of the same name but quite different growth and history; and some as different as one tree-kind from another, as birch from beech; oak from fir. There were a few older Ents, bearded and gnarled like hale but ancient trees (though none looked as ancient as Treebeard); and there were tall strong Ents, clean-limbed and smooth-skinned like forest-trees in their prime; but there were no young Ents, no saplings.
    - TTT; Treebeard
    Trolls were about the same hight, as a rule (keeping in mind difference among both groups ought to been common;
    [There] came forward out of the trees three strange shapes. As tall as trolls they were, twelve feet or more in height....
    - Ents, TTT; The Road to Isengard
    Balrog hight info has already been given.
    Please post question of this character in the Tolkien General Discussion II-thread, to which I direct any further posts on this matter.
