    Default Your most challenging campaign?

Hi all, I've just started a CS campaign - BGR V, Savage AI, VH/VH and am struggling with it. Seriously enjoying the challenge, but struggling.

I was wondering if anyone has had any particularly memorable difficult campaigns which they may or may not have survived?

Also, has anyone out there survived a late Khwarezmian campaign? I'm browsing through the "post your empires" thread and haven't found any yet.

    Late Khwarezmian campaign?
If without BGR,I think it's relatively easy when i jihad Jerusalem or Constantinople.

So basically you played a migration campaign? Smart, but that kind of defeats the purpose Anyone successfully stood their ground?

It seems odd thinking on it now but I can't play without BGR anymore it seems too...simple by comparison now, for lack of a better word. It's like the arcade version of SS.

I've tried twice ,but the campaign will be too long and painful.
In 1250(30 turns) I'm still defending Damghan, and then I give it up because it takes too much time and offers too little joy.

I had a campaign a while ago where I was playing Teutonic Order and got attacked by all my neighbors. I was going to get defeated so I decided to get all my units in the 3 ships I had and migrate to Ireland. On the way I sacked a couple danish cities so I could continue to have income. Allied with the Scots when I finally made it to Ireland and helped them push the English out of England. Really fun and challenging campaign.

I love it when the Byzantines balloon outwards and conquer most of Europe. It certainly helps when you're England and you have to fight the Almohads and said Byzantines as the last real bastion of the Catholic Church.

I've definitely had some fun times as the Kievan Rus late in the game when the Mongols are wreaking havoc and most other factions have turned on me. XD

I just recalled a very unique one: The first time I ever tried SS 6.0 as Lithuania. The game was set to VH/VH. Basically I was still kind of a noob, but I wasn't terrible either, so I was doing all right early on but I made the mistake of not expanding quite fast enough. The Teutons arrived and drove me from my western settlements, Poland pushed in from the south, and Novgorod pushed in from the East. All I had left was Vilnius. Basically, it all came down to fending off two huge, heavily-armed Teutonic stacks at the walls of Vilnius and then one last one on the nearby lands before I finally managed to drive the Teutons back via guerilla tactics.

Through some clever diplomacy, and by focusing all my resources on the Teutons, I managed to drive them from the mainland and regain my former glory. From that point on, I took out Poland, Novgorod, and laid seige to Kiev. After taking Kiev, I pushed all the way down to Constantinople and ransacked it "because I could." Victory was sweet.

My next goal was to sack Rome, but then later versions of SS came out so I had to start over. Still one of my favorite success stories though --a real case of moving from an almost irrelevant position (with other world leaders undoubtedly laughing at my diplomats) into a world power, feared by all!

Interesting that you started over, Gabrius. Even if SS 7.0 (or a 6.5 if that happens, not sure) comes out before I've blackened the world under the Reich's eagle, I won't leave my campaign unfinished.

I guess I just learned so much from the first one that I wanted to see if I could do even better. Basically, it took me about half the game to fight my way back to a strong position, so I thought, how great could Lithuania be if I knocked everyone out of my way FROM THE BEGINNING?

Perhaps. I personally enjoy campaigns where things don't go my way. In the aforementioned Poland campaign, for example, I decided to flee to Visby, demolished everything I could for cash, and am now rebuilding the Polish empire in Scandinavia.
