    Default Turn-Off Animations

    Hi all,

    The title says it all : Is there any way to disable animations on the campaing map? I know that this question concerns more the vanilla, but since I play SS 6.4 I thought it best to ask here.

    I'm also playing with TATW, but because of the animation of the trees, the game lags a LOT! And I know for sure that this is the reason of my lagging, for example, when I play with Broken Cresent (or even with the Fatimid in SS 6.4) the game doesn't lag at all (as long as my screen is fix on desert where there's limited or no animations).

    Anyway, please help me!

    Thank you

    p.s. I don't have a pretty good computer, that's why the tree's animation make it lag a bit. Oh, and I'm french!?

    Hi again,

    If I say that it is the trees that make my computer crash, it's for the simple reason that when I play TATW, as soon as I fixed my screen on the Mirkwood territories (Silvan Elves) my computer start lagging. Water might not help also. Yeah, my computer su**...

    So if you have any idea how to disable water/trees or whatsoever that could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks buddy

    p.s. Since in europe (in SS 6.4) there's not that LOT of trees, it doesn't lag that much, but still I don't want any animation.

    Oh and since I'm not that good in finding things such as you just hint me, it would be nice if you could be more precise please.

    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3 and then where?

    Hello, i might sound a bit thick! But i was wondering WHY in SS 6.4 when you kill a General or vice versa, it doesnt show a short video clip of the General falling off his Horse etc? Is that a setting Or is that a 6.4 thing!?

    Thanks ...

    PS My 8600M GT 256mb GPU finds it hard on Medium settings!
    9/11 was an inside job. 3 buildings collapsed inc building 7, and no one even knew!

    its in that folder, its called default.cfg, open in notepad:

    you should see this:

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    [launcher]
    kingdomsDir=..\..
    swapMenuBackground=true
    swapMenuMusic=true
    swapBAI=true
    autoLocateLogFile=true
    autoBorderlessMode=true
    steamCheck=true
    firstRun=false
    steam=false
    [features]
    mod=mods/SS6.3
    [log]
    to=mods/SS6.3/system.log.txt
    level=* error
    ;level=* trace
    [io]
    file_first=true
    [video]
    no_background_fmv=true
    grass_distance=9000
    unit_detail=highest
    movies=true
    #windowed=false
    #borderless_window=false

    event_cutscenes=1
    allusers=1

    [misc]
    show_hud_date=true
    #remove the # in the next line if you want launcher to bypass straight to the last save when you start mtw2
    #bypass_to_strategy_save=true

    @french man change the number after grass=1 or 0. That it'll help on battle map immensely.

    @simob change movies= to true and event_cutscenes= to 1

    then in the main mtw folder look for a medieval.preferences.cfg file and also open in notepad, it should look like this:

    change vegetation_quality= to low and vegetation= 0
    change reflection= to 0 (water)
    depth_shadows= to 0 and shadows_resolution= 0
    and change building_detail= to low

    see if that fixes it...i think i got all those values right...been awhile since i've had to turn graphics down so come back if it doesn't work/causes crash

    Don't forget to save both files and copy-right them

    First, I appreciate your help, so thank you. Secondly, "grass" doesn't have "1" or "0" but 9000. But anyway, I change it to 0. For the rest, it was all ok. Everything was already what you advise me. (So the grass help me a lot, but only for the battles.)

    Yeah, because initially my question was about the campaign map, not the battle map. Maybe you never notice it, but trees on campaign map moves, water as well and I want to turn THAT off. Anyway, thanks alot, but if you can help me again for this, I'll greatly appreciate it.

    ok, theres a campaign shadows command line somewhere....thats a big one for the campaign map.

    and bloom and reflection for the water.

    dunno about the rest......if vegetation in general didn't do the trees then I don't know how to disable them...might have to find the folder and copy vinalla files into it to replace...but someone who worked on the mod or knows it better than i do will have to help you find that file.

    I appreciate your help (it does help a bit), but the thread that would help me better would be this one (I just discovered this thread thanks to the one you post): http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=254083. Unfortunately the damn link won't work and it was exactly what I ask for...

    Oh and for the next peoples who will post/help me, I want you to know that I already done everything a normal player could do to ensure a better gameplay (like turn off shadow, reduce quality, skip player movement, etc.), what I need it's some modification in the files directly. Thanks.

    You should post in that thread and see if anyone still has the files. However, if they were for TA, they might not work for SS. You will have to ask.
