    Default Seeking Technical Help

Well, where to begin? This all started awhile ago when I started a new Shogun 2 campaign, but during my session I am receiving some random crashes that are annoying because they tend to occur while a battle is being conducted, whether it be naval or land. What happens is the game will freeze, a black screen will appear, but I can still see the Shogun cursor. The only way to get rid of the black screen is to ctrl alt del, and then end the process. Even today, after uninstalling Chrome, disabling my Anti-Virus software (Kaspersky), and then on top of that I ran memtest all day thinking the problem may lie with my ram, but I was still unsuccessful in finding a solution and my game crashed during a land battle with about 4.5 thousand units. After that crash, I as usual ctrl alt del'd, terminated the process, and then checked my GPU(70c) and CPU(54c) temps. I open the application up once again, and in the main menu I receive yet another crash, but this time my computer became unresponsive to the point where I was forced to hit the reset button on my case.

I should also mention I have uninstalled the game, verified the cache multiple times, deleted my preferences file, deleted the blob file, and ran the vcredist application like I read in a post on here. After doing that I started up a game, but about an hour and a half later I got a crash during a naval battle. Not quite sure where, or what to do from here. It feels like a hardware problem, but this stuff never happens when I play Far Cry 3, or The Witcher 2.

    Here are my Computer specs:

    Windows 7 64bit
    i7 3770k
    gtx 690
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8) DDR3 1866 *** I have them at 1600 though***
    Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD
    Corsair HX Series HX 850watt
    ASUS Maximus V Formula

Anyone who can help me it would be much appreciated

Run MSI Afterburner and see what the temp is when the crash happens.
Run Speedfan and post a pic of the results.

Check my voltages of just my gpu right? I had EVGA Precision X running in the background and it read that the temps around the crash were at 71-72c. If i remember correctly. With realtemps on too my cpu cores never went over 55c that whole time. 54c being the hottest.

EVGA Precision is listed under stuff that Steam hates. Try running with that stuff disable.

Post a pic of Speedfan. I want to see the voltages even though the power supply does get good reviews in The Basement forum.

Okay i will get on that right now. Run speedfan while i play until i crash, if im understanding correctly? Then post a pic of what it records? Sorry, i have never used Speedfan or encountered these problems before so im still new to it all. ^_^ There is also this:

I noticed that my NVIDIA Physx System Software 9.12.1031 had a different icon then my other NVIDIA drivers in my installed programs list. When i double clicked it, I got an error message that read:
    RunDLL (Upper Left Corner)

    There was a problem starting C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2\installer.{4F62DC48-452f-4932-920d-fabe23b1bb5d}\NVI2.DLL

The specified module could not be found.

Could this be the result of a botched driver installation by me, and the reason(s) I am having these Shogun 2 problems? I was running the 310.90 nvidia drivers but i had to roll back to .70 because of some issues that i cant quite remember now.

Well EVGA just put up 310.90 so I am going to uninstall my drivers and then install .90 before i do anything. I have Speedfan, but i am not sure if you want me to take a pic now while my comp is on idle, during the game, or when the game crashes?

At idle, it gives a clue to maybe trouble.
Under load or at crash is best if you can get it.
When I had my old 9800GT, I got my drivers straight from www.nvidia.com instead depending on the card's manufacturer. It worked better for me.
Are you using EVGA to set the game's settings or are you using the ingame ones?

Well for me when I got the .90 drivers from nvidia Control panel and installed them every time I started up my computer it would be in the wrong display and there was no nvidia control panel or driver. I had to restart then my display driver would be there in the correct res. Now when I uninstalled my graphics driver and proceeded to restart everything was fine. Then Windows installed some graphics drivers upon start up and had me restart again. So I did and now I can't seem to be able to see my desktop when my computer starts up.

If EVGA's work better, okay, but I don't why Windows would care unless it's the integrated chip it downloaded for. Windows did it to me when I uninstalled the Nvidia ones and installed the AMD ones with my new card.
Now, where is the conflict, Microsoft, Nvidia, Intel, EVGA, CA or all of the above?
I'd still like to see a pic of Speedfan before going much further.

If i had to make a choice i would say nvidia and evga because currently i cant see my desktop display, attempting to uninstall my drivers. Now i am thinking this may be just a hardware issue with my gpu. I shut down and restart but im not seeing anything but a black screen after my computer goes on. So i may just have to rma my card for a new one because i really dont see a way past this sadly.

Can you hook your monitor up to the integrated port so you can at least check it out?

Sorry for my late response, but I took my card out and booted in safe mode uninstalled the driver completely as well as use driver sweeper+ccleaner before i put the card back in and then installed 310.90. Now my gpu is in good shape. I also fixed the Physx Software error message that I mentioned earlier by downloading the update manually, and then using that to remove Physx before reinstalling it. Now im going to try shogun 2, but first here is a pic of speedfan while my computer is idle with just my browser open. I will also get a pic of it when i have S2 running, and if i happen to crash again. But I may not now that Physx has been repaired. Usually my crashes occur an hour to two hours in, or my first big land battle.

Just wanted to also say thanks for sticking with me so far ^_^

Everything looks good for what I know.
Yes, I'd like to see an updated one when you get S2 running.
