I posted this in the other thread, but I'll post here too.
Oh dear, i'm worried. COH 2 is going to have microtransactions. What if sega decides to do that for Rome 2?
All I can say is, it's going to be the first total war game I'm not getting at release..
Bad news! Very, very, very bad news!
Relic in the ancient times was perfect.....and now this!
Bad news! Really bad news! I'm so sad! No future! Only despair, darkness, melancholy!

Do you wanna play SS 6.4 and take your time while at it? Play with my 12 turns per year here.
Y también quieres jugar Stainless Steel 100% en español? Mira por aca.
You buy your game and in-game you can buy more stuff usually small things. I cant imaging it fitting in a game like Rome 2 or RTS is general but it is the way Free-2-Play games make their money i.e you buy your armour, weapons, ect.
Lately it has gone from a small system for buying things such as skins and object it has lately crept in to bigger games and sadly with Dead Space 3 EA has added microtransactions to a single player game.
TF2, Planetside 2, League of Legends, Diablo 3 use this system. Its becoming more and more common.
Not that thats a bid thing if done right but companies like EA and the biggest case lately in game The War Z use it simply to drag every cent out of their customers.

So you don't buy a game, you buy a virtual store where you will keep buying stuff... thanks, but no thanks.

In the case of War Z that was it basically. You even lost what you bought when you died. Those are becoming more common where you pay for a game and then you buy more stuff. Its usualy stuff you can do without but often its really not. EA are of course pioneering that kind of RTS which with Dead Space 3 has taken an evil turn
But it can and has been done right by many people. The main point is to not allow people to buy stuff that makes them more powerful that other players so thats why Rome 2 and in general RTS dosent do well as a free to play game.
This. Sega are much more benevolent compared to EA. You would see the games you love turned into simple grabs at currency by EA because ,suprise suprise, they would likely use it to test their new microtransactions system.
