Random crashes

I recently returned to this game after upgrading my pc, I used to be able to play with no crashes etc for hours but now I cannot play for longer than a few minutes before a crash of some kind...this seems to happen at any time, could be during the AI turns, could be when starting a battle, sometimes even after a battle is finished, but always without fail I can guarantee a crash.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, played the game with and without mods, I have all the dlc's and looked at all the conflict programs suggested and found none on my computer that are on this list of anti-virus software etc.

Could someone please help me get to the bottom of this so that I can get back to playing properly.
