Default Do 'Good' Factions go on Offensives?

    Hello!

So im playing the Campaign as Mordor on VH/H. I have taken most of eastern Gondor and its currently turn 103. Even though I have neglected the region I still see no Gondor offensives despite seeing 3 Fullstacks sitting near a city with just 3/4ths.

Do 'Good' factions ever go on offensives?

Good faction go offensive , but thats rather rare. most common factions who go offensive as good factions are probably :

    - Dwarves
    - Dale ( at the beginning , or if they win vs rhun)

I think gondor wont attack you but rather defend with their stacks.

That really sucks, I wish Good Factions fought back instead of turtled.

If you leave cities empty or with low garrisons the AI should go for you, also in fairness it really depends on how well the faction is doing if it ever goes on the offensive. Rohan will if it can beat isenguard. Also remember that gondor also has to deal with Harad, a faction that can attack without any real threat to its own territories.

Also the submod DCI: Tol Acharn gives the good mannish factions the ability to launch Jihads, which the AI will use, although to use the mod you'd have to start again.

If Gondor is playing the defensive right now, then that means one thig - The Haradrim are beating them. In my Mordor campaign, I noticed that if Harad seemed to be winning, Gondor would stay back and conserve its men. After they finally bet Harad back to Goben Tafalas, they started attempting to cross into Ithilien and retake their lands.

If you want, you can press ~ and type toggle_fow to see how they are doing against Harad, or just send some spies south.

The AI will often wait until it has a heavy advantage before attacking. If you have a nearly full stack in a city, then that city might not get attacked for a long time. However during this time the AI will accumulate more and more of its own stacks. It is better to fight small battles because the player advantage is strongest at controlling individual units of cavalry and manually matching up infantry.

I'm playing as Mordor on VH/VH and I'm currently at war with both Dale and Rohan because they thought it would be a good idea to poach one of my less well defended settlements, also Gondor re-took Minas Tirith from me killing both the Witch-King and Dawndeath as well as a decent almost full stack garrison; so yes I would say good factions do go on the offensive. I have managed to re-take Minas Tirith, but only because Mordor are great at fielding lots of troops in short order.
