In this latest piece of work I am trying a few new things and the work is proceeding slowly and painfully.

the units in Stainless Steel are wonderful!

i love to play Stainless Steel and i hope to give some minor suggestions for making it more enjoyable for players.

    (1) An option for a "faster version"

since the map is very huge, the waiting time for AI turns is too too too long even when i have chosen not to see the AI movement.

is there a way to keep the great units and other good things in Stainless Steel but provide an option of a "fast version"?
the fast version will have a smaller map and provide an option to have less triggers in order to minimise the waiting time.

    (2) an option for human player to do less micro-managements ( eg. General keep loyalty in a distance)

when the player's general has a distance from the capital, the general will easilly become less loyal.
so the player will have to pay too much effort to move back the general closer to the capital continuously and continuously and continuously ...
is it possible to provide an option to turn off this trigger?

if the general is easier to keep to be loyal, we can usually send it to a longer distance and be able to do less micro-managements, so that we can be more enjoyable in playing this great mod.

Thanks so much for the great effort of the this brilliant modding team in making this wonderful Stainless Steel game!!

I think the name(and other more historic) was there in earlier versions of the mod, but they changed it up to the current state. Don't know why.

I love the map of the ss mod and the new factions... But something i really hate and took my to abandon it... he decreased the attack of all units. so per exemple the pike man take 10 minutes to kill someone it's abusif. and the guilds give 1 experience wtF?? i prefere vanilla who give me the upgrade of melee without experience. Please make the attack stats like vanilla.

Last things you seems obsessed with the knights templar... it will be good to change the templar guy in main menu background.

By the way the knights tamplar were evils solidiers... they killed so many children and womens. Its better to be obsessed with soemthing else

Sounds like someones been playing alot of assassins creed . Though they may not have been saints in the eyes of their enemy, the knights templar were still a badass order with an amazing history.
Plus its their mod and im sure they can obsess on w/e they want to. Seems to me they wont change anything because one guy gets offended by a guy in a white tunic and a red cross on the main menu. Makes me wonder if it was a muslim warrior on there would we see the same message you just posted above...

I have nothing agianst muslims, I think they have a great history aswell and I put equal time into learning about them as much as the men of the west.

Suck it up, and dont be offended by video games...

Yes i played AC games. it wasnt bad. Its not for that i dont prefere a templar guy in the background. And no i m not a pro muslims. I m just a guy who love history of all nations. To be honest i loved the story of the knights templar. But since i knew that they merdered womens and childrens and they was practicing homosexuality, befor getting tortured and killed the french king Philip. the pope clement V dissolve the order. So I wasnt like befor a guy who liked the templar order.

    Hah

But seriously this doesn't relate to SS 7.0 Unit preview.

Can you name any group in history that didn't murder women and children? Also what authentic historical source states that the Templars practiced homosexuality... I believe you got that info off of a retarded history channel documentary(if you want to call it that) that you found on youtube, and while watching you heard some guy with a british accent tell you they did and your immediate reaction was to nod your head and drool approvingly. The truth is the Templars kept their rituals secret, no-one knows went on behind closed doors only rumors and tall tales, like satan worship, and of course another big one being homosexuality.. gtfo

decreased the attack of all units.
Thats called realism, you cant just mow down hundreds of men in a few minutes.

and the guilds give 1 experience wtF?? i prefere vanilla who give me the upgrade of melee without experience. Please make the attack stats like vanilla.
The upgrades that the guilds give are actually proven to be OP, they show only a one increase in the weapon stats, but in reality it is much much more, something like 4.

Last things you seems obsessed with the knights templar... it will be good to change the templar guy in main menu background.
You can probably mod that yourself to what ever you want it to be.

yes it seems logic. One thing it is normal that a soldier have to take 10 arrows to die?

Yes. Arrows may miss, hit shields, fail to do damage to the armor or even hit a non-essential part of the body. Even the OP pila of the ancient Roman empire (not Byzs, but the original ones) weren't that OP IRL.

And yes, wartime atrocities aren't pretty, but this isn't the place to discuss them.

    @ Evalation:
I find your arguments to be solid, however that "gtfo" of yours is part of a demeanor that is alien to what we are used to in this site.
Personally I have read posts in the various threads here that made me want to get out of my own hide but I did not respond like that.
Please take a hint from the example of the "better angels of our nature".

On other business, latest teaser below, hope you like it.

Why do you hate higher resolution models so much?

But really for a vanilla base it looks really good. I would rep you but im all out for 24 hrs

How do you define "higher resolution"?
Do you mean a texture file that is larger than 1024x1024 pixels?
If that's your definition I don't hate them, I just don't know the effects on system performance.
System requirements and recommended system specs for the game -especially graphics board memory is concerned here- were put forth with vanilla texture file dimensions in mind.
The vanilla body dimensions for such units as Norman Knights, Latinkon, Christian Guard and Armenian Heavies are about 283x336 pixels.
I am using a 256x512 region and the UV map is twice folded.
How much higher resolution do we need?
We wouldn't be able to see that much detail in-game anyway.
Keep in mind that milkshape does not have an antialiasing function and with the mail being so detailed the aliasing effect is much more severe in milkshape than in-game.

On a different note, for this skin's torso I have ten variations for the undergarnment and three variations for the padding.
I still have room for the belts, with an intended variation of at least four, maybe five and also am planning to add accessories such as a purse and a dagger with variations for those being dependent on remaining unused "room" in the 1024x1024 file.

I usually prefer to zoom in and see the action up close, in which case yes you can tell the difference between the higher and lower resolution units.

Yes system requirements are a concern but I for one would prefer to have a better looking unit and set the unit size smaller.

I turn off AA in game and my video card is actually pretty terrible and I can still tell the difference.

Can you tell the difference between your unit and these?

I didnt make these, just using them as an example.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

So is performance your main reason for not giving them a higher resolution?

I would be very interested in seeing other attachments to the model like belts and what not.

I am a student of the gaming school that holds gameplay, especially smooth performance during action, on higher regard than looks.
My only deviation from that school is my soft spot for "atmospheric" games.
I absolutely adore large unit sizes, if you ask me maximum size is not big enough.
Action wise it takes much longer for them to be decimated and fatigue has enough time to kick in.
All that allow for a grater variety of tactics to be employed, like exhausting the enemy or outmaneuvering them, making for more interesting gameplay.
You might say that I make my skins for like minded people.

Not bad work at all but with what's in all I like mine more, btw what is the resolution on those?

All vanilla units use the same resolution and I have yet to see a skin in any of the mods demonstrated in this site that deviated from this norm.
I would understand and approve a higher than vanilla resolution for RTW but cannot see the need for it in M2TW unless all other solutions have exhausted their potential.
Also, in my game even with full zoom I can't seem to have a view closer than what milkshape alows. Is there a trick I don't know?

I'll be posting a full presentation of the new skin after the lod0 is finished and before I work with the other lods.

I can respect that. I would also like to have higher numbers for units but I prefer to have normal unit size with excellent looking units.

I am able to zoom in quite close. I mean its close enough I suppose, dont want to really see up their noses or anything. Not sure if I selected anything different. Pretty sure its just regular view.

I look forward to your updates. Keep up the good work

Can you look at the screenies in post #223 of this thread and tell me how the chainmail compaires to my latest work?
That's the closest view I can get. Which one (chainmail) do you prefer?
