Spartan for Opifex

To qualify as Opifex, the nominee must meet the following Criteria:

• Served the Total War Center or Total War Community with exceptional input to any of the boards or mods in any capacity other than staff.
• The nominee must be seconded by a member of the Consilium de Civitate before it can go to a vote. Vote shall be refused to any user who fails the criteria for citizenship with regard to warnings and post count.

Qualifying nominees shall be voted upon in the Curia for a period of one week, and a three-fourth majority will be sufficient to decorate a user as an Opifex. A user who passes the vote shall be awarded the rank of 'Opifex' and 'Civitate' (if the nominee was not one already). A nominee who fails to achieve a three-fourth majority is eligible to be nominated again after a three month period.

If there's anyone who deserves the rank of Opifex, it's Spartan. Spartan contributed tremendously to the community with respect to modding. The Trivium Organization was (from what I hear) a great boon to its members, an exemplar of community cooperation and mutual helpfulness. Spartan also directly created a number of mods, especially in the early days of RTW modding, and helped out Europa Barbarorum as well until he unfortunately took ill. But even beyond that, he has paid hundreds of dollars to pay for hosting and other support for various mods. I'm sure others will help me do justice to his immeasurable contributions to modding. :original:

Why cant he be both.Divus is a title for ex rulers of the site.But Spartans contributions toward modding community are more then enough for title of Opifex. Opifex and Divus are not exclusive ranks as far as i know.So i dont see a problem here. :hmmm:

If he passes both votes, he gets both ranks. He could choose one badge or the other, or both (avatar as badge).

There is no conflict. Divus, I supsect, would be his default, but I suspect that he would have the option of choosing which ever rank he wishes.

Erm, well, I support this, Spartans contributions the modding community should be rewarded with the Opifex badge. However, I still think he deserves the Divus badge, but this is not the thread for that.

Artifex would be much more suited to him. There are many modders with less name recognition that do or have done more than he has. No offense to his modding or anything.

Yes. My point is that there are modders who have done more, yet are only being awarded with Artifex.

Although your point about his contributions to the site+modding does make sense. You got me there. I suppose I will just have to abstain in this vote.

There are more who have done much less and are being awarded with Opifex. No offense to anyone, but I think his contributions pretty clearly outstrip those of Seleukos, webbird, and probably Rahl and Sun as well. He definitely ranks with lt and DARTH, even if not quite with Vercingetorix. Granted, it does have a lot to do with how much weight you give to actually modding versus organizing a mod versus enabling others to mod, but Spartan is still pretty clearly at the very top somewhere.

But so have many modders who the Council of War want to be just Artifex. How is his work better in quality and quantity to the people who are being put up to vote for that rank. Why does he deserve Opifex over them.

Im going to agree with imb39. Spartan easily qualifies for the rank of Opifex, if you think otherwise then you must be ignorant to his full contributions to the site, remember, Opifex is not only for modders, its for people who contribute extensively through a non staff role, something which Spartan did in an abundance.

Regarding Simetrical comments, I have though long and hard about his recent posts and I have developed the following opinion as a result.

I consider Vercingetorix and Webbird to be in a unique class all by themselves as the fathers of the graphics dimension of the modding community. To me they represent the spirit or promise of our community. Given that this is the one area I have not done work in personally I can't put myself in this group.

Similarly I consider LT and Darth to be representative of the soul of the modding community because of their two year long commitment to an individual project which demonstrates a high level of professionalism, steadfast tenacity and commitment to cause that should the inspiration of all modmen. Personally speaking I don’t even consider myself in the same group as these fine citizens.

I consider General Sun to be representative of the heart of the modding community. Because he is an institution builder or a community architect if you prefer. His extraordinary enthusiasm, sense of purpose and focused dedication has been towards supporting all aspects of our great community. It is with this group and him I most closely associate myself.
