    Default helping out dale

This is the first time I've attempted the dwarf campaign, I'm hoping people with expierence with this campaign can throw your thoughts on this. Dale is in trouble Rhun has been slowing chopping away at their western border as Im watching thus happen over the last few turns I was hoping Dale would beat them bacj, but that's not the case Rhun has a half stack outside of their capital laying seige to it. I have the troops in Erebor that I could send down and lend a hand ( they are my allies after all. ) The thought of Rhun being my new neighbors kind of bothers me. Now you guys who have been through this. Should I send my army down to Dale to lift the seige or do I leave to their fate?

It's never to late, is it possible to push them back and hold them?

I'm in the middle of a dwarf campaign now, but I've played it before using the MOS.

What I did was save the city ofDale, just to keep my allies alive, and then take the rest Dales starting territories back from Rhun, especially Esgaroth.

I am playing a dwarf campaign where I have regularly saved Dale from the brink of destruction. It's always possible if you want to spare the resources to maintain an army assisting them. What you "should" do is up to you, it's totally a matter of taste but if you like playing noble and such it seems in line with that to save the Dalesmen. Stacked Vault Wardens and Crossbowmen are good counters to Rhuns armies.

I know the whole good guys should stick with good guys but honestly I just like keeping dale as a nice buffer between me and Rhun. At least till I'm prepared to whoop some Rhun ass.

I like to face rhun early on as the dwarves... For one they are a more interesting enemy then the orcs... and two they are a sleeping giant if they knock off dale... In a mordor campaign i once saw ehun wipe out everythig on the east side of the misty mnts and north of gondor... With rohan next in line... And i just took out gondor

All i know that in my last dwarven campaign rhun was amazing hard to beat, those damn balchot tribesmen with their javelins would seriously damage my most elite troops.

A charge from the Dale Cavalry mercenaries or a few volleys from Iron Crossbowmen decimate the Balcoth. It's the same as dealing with Snaga Skirmishers.

I made a thread very recently about how to keep Rhun in check with the Dwarves. I've now learnt that past a certain point and if you play on VH/VH, you can't really; the AP units Rhun has and the fact that they are great at range pretty much destroys all the Dwarves advantages, and their economy is too strong (in comparison to the Dwarves which is rife with corruption) to every really give you a chance. My advice therefore is beat Rhun back from Dale, then take as many settlements as you can of theirs and give them to Dale. In that regard, you're bolstering their economy and covering your back against a faction that's very difficult to deal with - best take on Isengard after you've dealt with the OoG and OotMM.

I may try this with that Dwarf campaign, as currently I'm in a deadlock against Rhun who - whenever I make a sizeable army - immediately have one twice the size to send to attack my settlements, so at best all I can do is desperately try and keep ahold of the land I captured. However, I feel it's probably too late in that campaign now (~275 turns) to win as I haven't even passed the 30 settlements threshold yet.

I just did the exact same thing after helping out dale I marched south and took a couple of settlements and set yp my army at one of the bridges. ( I believe I read that in the thread you posted) but your right I don't see how you can win a war with Rhun I think I've been lucky so far more then anything. I think ill make nice with Rhun since the elves have joined in the war also Dale should be fine. But ill take your advice and work on isengard when I get down to the misty mountains. Thank you for posting on this though you guys have been helpful.
