    Default Another Trade Question

I'm playing a multiplayer campaign (co-op) as Chosokabe. I've taken all of Shikoku as well as a good deal of territory mainland. I border Hattori, Matsuda, Asai and the Shogunate, yet I cannot establish a single land trade route.

On top of that, when I captured Settsu and it's military port, I did not gain an additional sea trade route as I should have. I'm told every time ''the ports in your port are at full capacity", and cannot even mention the idea of trade to other clans.

I'm having trouble staying afloat right now. My only trade income is from my friend's clan (Tokugawa) and another sea route with Hatakeyama. Anyone have any clues what's going on here?

All trade has to go through your capital. And because chosokabe is on an island, you need trade ports for it. land routes are not available for them. It is indeed a bummer. only thing you can do is maximize the trade ports on the island, then you will have more trade routes available. Build your military ports on the mainland

That... really does suck. So Chosokabe can only have a max of 2 trade partners, no matter what? Is there any way to move my capital to a better place, as in previous Total War games? My income is absolutely TERRIBLE, and that's just trying to support my single army. If I even tried to build up a navy, my economy will go bottom up.

This is the famous chosokabe curveball mate, the faction looks easy on paper but if you want to play the campaign "properly" as in without cheap tricks, then you are limited to a maximum of 3 naval trade routes and that's your lot. And expanding into honshu can be dicey at times as you need to keep looking out for naval invasions on Shikoku.

Of course you can relocate onto honshu entirely (as in give up Shikoku to an invasion or one of the resident clans) and then your capital will be moved to a landmass with many more ports but that feels very close to cheating. I've completed a VH campaign with chosokabe and it can get proper gritty at times and I decided to keep my capital at Tosa so income was an issue pretty much the whole time up until you own loads of provinces making koku off of land (chosokabe get a bonus to income from land) rather than from trade. Good luck.

Ah, Awaji's port also counts, when I finally get it upgraded. I'll try to stifle that pesky christianity and build a nanban port in Iyo so I can have 4 trade routes. And apparently you can't change your capital. Looks like I'll be monopolizing some trade routes. Thanks for the reply!

One of expensive tricks (but trick nontheless) is build nanban port somwhere, make it rebel and build it somewhere else. Repeat as much as you want (but don't retake until you are finished). Then retake those provinces and you have nanban multiple ports (works with every building that you can build only once).
    Disadvantages:
    1) Costs a lot (building it and then repairing after rebels)
    2) It will wreck province wealth
    3) You lose your provinces for significant ammount of time (you can build the port only after you lose previous)
    4) It is side stepping rules (In which case, using mod's (there must be some) that allows it to everyone is imo better (if AI can take advantage of it))

One of Radious' mods does that, building mod IIRC. Don't use it myself (I'm on with only having 1 top building) but its certainly possible.

That really seems an issue i wonder why asssembly havent improved that . I played the demo and apart from strange cash flows (most negative) i couldnt even complete a demo cause i was out of cash for a better army !! Guesss had to bring all garrison units tough .. but it should b possible to have multiple trade routes if u have more parts that seems a bit questionalbe , that way im wondering if ill purchase the game or not , im not in for some easy game but that can be kinda spoiling fun and so well still wondering ..
