I do the same thing except with one less person.

As you can check the OP, there is no such number so his statement was wrong. Who says that here on this forum there are 184 000 active users, and that all of them are different persons? Even my cat has a TWC account, and he is among those 176 600 not active users

And there are only around 7 400 ACTIVE users.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

I do not deny that he could have wrote it better, instead he could have used the actual active users in the place of the total number of accounts. His number of 66 was taken from the number of people voting against a Steam RTW2 at the time of him posting, and the 184000 was an approximation of the total number of registered accounts at TWC so he was NOT making numbers up. He should have just used the active users instead.

Now, what I think you didn't realize was that he wasn't saying that 18400 people voted in that poll. Instead he meant that only 70 people from the entire forum went out of their way from to vote in a poll against a Steam RTW2. Everyone else either didn't care so did not vote; voted for Steam RTW2; or did not see the poll so did not vote (majority falls here in my opinion).

Yes, he should have used the active member count. If it was possible the average amount of people to visit the Rome 2 area in a day would be better but I don't think that can be viewed.

This is why I thought that the next sentences you used were insulting especially as both of them are incorrect; they were snide comments with the implications that he is making things up or is just plain stupid. Possibly both.

I have explained in this post why this is incorrect and therefore unjustified criticism.

This was incorrect as he was saying the total number of people that voted against Steam made up less than 1% of the TWC population. This is his calculation (which is correct but can be easily shown that it means nothing as 7400 don't all go to the RTW2 section):

Number voted against Steam ÷ Number of active users x 100

    70 ÷ 7400 x 100 = 0.945%

It is less than 1 like he said however irrelevant the figure is. Then you do the same as the comment above but this time replacing "browser" with "math".

50 million active accounts with about 5-6 million co-current users at one time.

I have no problem with steam, i just hope i can buy a physical disck, in my country internet is slow, so downloading a 20 Gb game is crazy at 80 Kb/s. steam is great for updates and if can install with a disk and update with steam it would be great.

I shared mine with my brothers until they got their own. But, the majority of people don't have multiple accounts as ElvenKind suggests.

Of course - not many people have multiple accounts. I mean the games that Steam provides are hugely popular in the younger demographic (under 18) and these kids have shared computers and accounts. I was one of them, so were many of my friends. Thinking about my close circle of mates and their siblings, it was probably 10 accounts between 35 of us.

I really used to hate steam. Problem was that my internet connection wasn't the best and steam was just a pain in the ass with all the auto-patching, activating and so on.

Now however, I have a really fast connection and I don't mind steam, I don't even notice it anymore
I basically don't care if it's Steam or not, but I want to consider that my opinion about steam changed so dramatically that I gave it a shot and voted for it

I will be buying it via Steam. As long as I don't have to have a constant internet connection though.

I think it should be in floppy disc form, forcing people to have a CD format is unethical for people who don't have CD drives or internet to download the game. It breaches our human rights and I will not buy this game unless CA sees the error in their ways and release a floppy disc version.

Yes, on 5ź" floppy's. I mean, those 3˝" floppies are too modern

I would like the non steam version as it hogs less cpu cycles and has a lower system latency.I have compared steam on and off with DPC latency checker and i think it just adds bloat for no reason.

The only good thing about steam is i can download 30GB Shogun 2 in under an hour at 8.2MB/sec which is roughly my 70/20 fibre connection maxed out

I will probably have it quicker than it will take to drive to the nearest ASDA to buy it

Also if TW was not on steam there would never of been the huge arguement about me being robbed of the gloss and original visuals/draw distance of Shogun 2.Thanks to steam and not having a 30GBbackup on DVD i can never have what i was originally tricked into buying

Library localization, steamlined screenshot function and manager, time played tracker, integrated Steam Community, Steam Workshop, auto-patching ...

Yes, the benefits from a Steam version are numerous.

as long as steam doesn't kick me out of the game or refuse to let me login because of internet connection or some other BS then no problem but if the problem persists then I would just have to go to the Bay, it's not that big of a deal really.

If your internet connection is not fast and/or stable I suggest you do what I did during ETW days when I was depending mobile broadband with 1GB limit.

Once the game is fully installed and playable, quit the game and turn Steam offline mode. Next time you want to play the game make sure Steam is offline first. As long as you did not clean your pc (with CCLeaner for example) you login/password will always be saved to the pc. I usually disbale internet first before running Steam. Never had a problem ever.

As long as Steam stays offline even if there's new patch come out you can stuil play with unpatched version. I have played pre FOTS Shogun 2 around 2 months after the game is released on my laptop. Of course once you go online then Steam will update you game fully before you wil be allowed to play.

It may seems a bit of a hassle but nevertheless it's the same with getting the Bay version... where you have to be offline, disabling AV etc. Much much more riskier.

sounds good to me, The bay version takes longer and is a much bigger hassle anyways. if it works then great, if not then I would need to fix it
