The fact the only twice as many people voted FOR Steam just proves how its not the all dominating system it claims to be. If half the amount of people who are happy with Steam are unhappy with Steam, and this is in a gaming forum where everyone knows what they're doing, that just shows how appauling Steam really is. The actual figure when you include all consumers would be much higher. Its only a few younger people who seems to think that Steam owning all your games is fine, I'm not fine with this AT ALL and we shouldn't have to put up with it, especially if a THIRD of TWCentres HARDCORE Total War fans would prefer non Steam, WTF are they playing at?

Let me give you a hint... this particular case applies to Paradox, but i think its a pretty safe bet to say that it applies industry wide.

Paradox recently decided to move to Steam with all its new releases. This for the simple reason that 90+ percent of its sales were digital, and moving to Steam was the simplest and most efficient thing for them to do (it would also be cheaper as they only had one version that they'd need to patch, no more creating 10 different patches for the various outlets). This despite vehement anti steam comments in their forum, much like on this one.

The most important thing is this..even if every single person on this forum stops buying TW games, its not even going to register on their sales charts. The so called vocal minority is such a tiny speck that its entirely insignificant in monetary terms. CA is a business that has one goal, and that is seeing black numbers in its spreadsheets, not red ones. And the bigger black numbers, the better. If they can increase their profits in any way, they will (hello DLC).

Steam is here to stay, like it or not. End of story

Of course, 66 out of 184 000 people in a gaming forum definentely proves that Steam is not a good system.

Don`t make up numbers. And you don`t even know what other 183 934 members think.
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

A video of false chemical attack in Douma, Syria, which led to Western illegal attacks.

I'm not making up any numbers, I merely have to look at the poll and the members to get them. And if the topic of this discussion was as important as you say it is, why is it then that only one ‰ of the member base has put down their vote?

You are stil making out numbers, 70 out of 220 members who voted think there should be non steam version, and not as you said out of 184 000 members ( and there are like just couple of thousand of them active ). I don't see 184 000 votes there, maybe it's my web browser.. What browser do you use, so I can see the same as you?
And check the percentage of votes (32% ) and apply that to 184 000. Well, my math shows different number than yours, are we using the same math?

One third of TWC members want Steam to be optional- this figure remains fairly constant and is a good indicator.

If you asked 10,000 gamers, I would think at least 85 percent would say Steam is a good thing, and that their gaming experience is enriched by it.

Steam has 50 million active users with most of the games not requiring any obligatory steam connection.
It's user count has increased at a more rapid rate.

Seems people really dont read CA posts. They clearly said the game will come in Steam whether we like it or not. Really, pointless thread. No matter how much we nag and complain about Steam, the game will be released on Steam in the end.

Do you think that only opinions favourable to the regime should be aired?

CA/SEGA never release their sales figures but I guess Shogun 2 including FOTS must be around that figure too probably and that figure was base around September 2012. With Easter and Christmas sales there will probably many more.

I'm sure sooner or later you'll only be able to acquire games via internet and companies like gamestop will be put out of business.

Even sooner if Sony and Microsoft rumor is true. The rumor being they plan to lock console games to a single console preventing the burrowing and reselling of games. It'll be good.. Sure, millions of people will lose their jobs but.. who cares you know?
