It frightens me that CA choose to go this way.
While i can to a certain point understand that it is difficult to name every unit of the Celts or Germanics for example in their own language i'm dissapointed that even the greek units get a lame english translation.
I shiver at the thought of numerous "Spear Warbands" or "Chosen Swordmen" again.

Well that's good news. Leaving out the Antigonids as a campaign faction in Rome I was a little strange. Glad to see they've made it this time.
Will you be including the original name in the unit description? If so, please make it the Greek form of the names for Hellen(ist)ic units, not the Latinized ones (language wise, not alphabet wise, of course). Those look terrible.
In order to keep it simple, having Greek spelling with Latin letters is perfectly fine. It's just the Latinization that hurts my eyes, and I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with that opinion.

That's a disastrous decision. "Shield bearers"? Really? Then just rename all the "triarii" or "principes" etc etc units to other inferior English substitutes. Keep on using the modern days lingua franca in terminology and you will make a marvelously boring game. You made a nice joke mentioning historical "authenticity" by the way. Yet considering the way you marked the region of Macedonia identical to the FYROMian propaganda nationalistic beliefs, raises a few more questions about CA's intentions, especially if its only the Greek units' names renamed.
Joke? "The faces of these soldiers do not have the look of warriors" and "textures are horrible" (pointing to nothing in particular) really got me
Please, try harder.
Oh my. So it looks like Greek paranoia here extends beyond our own staff.
Does raise an interesting point though. The optimal situation would be for players to be able to choose whether or not they want faction colours, or whether or not they would like Anglicized names.

Under the patronage of the formidable and lovely Narf.
Proud patron of Derpy Hooves, Audacia, Lordsith, Frodo45127 and Sir Adrian.
My elite heavy spearmen are called Shield Bearers instead of Hyperzeraitioisi? Oh noez, Rome 2 will be completely unplayable, how will I manage to conquer the world with units titled in English?
Also lol@ bringing in the stunningly retarded Macedonia naming dispute into this thread. You do know that CA reps have stated numerous times that the maps seen in the previews are just artistic representations and are not representative of the map or borders that are going to be in the final product, right?
The word 'Hypaspist' is the name of the English. Greek name is 'Hypaspistai'.
The English word "Hypaspist" is in the singular as 'a hypaspist', in the plural as 'hypaspists'.
I give an example the word 'Hoplite'. Greek form of the word is 'Hoplitai'. The English form is in the singular as 'a hoplite', in the plural as 'hoplites'.
Analogously to refer to 'hoplite'.
"shield bearer" is the only meaning of the word, not an English name. Universal, the English name is simply 'Hypaspist (a hypaspist ; hypaspits)'
Here is the proof in the form of the English name:

Yay, thanks guys!
Macedonians look amazing. And the preview i think has some reveals as well.Perhaps some units will be available only if you own specific areas or have client states. However my main concern is that the unit models need facial hair!!I think macedonians and romans shaved but carthaginians didn't.Put some beards on them !!
YUS!
