    Default Agent Wars.

Ok i'm losing a campaign in which im clearly the top power (got more than half of Japan, got Kyoto, winning every single battle) and i just cant advance because the AI is flooding me with agents.

I can handle all of them but those damn monks. Really i have huge christian armies popping everywhere and it seems to me that its out of nowhere.

I had the problem when i had the original religion, converted to christianity and funnilly enough i have not only not solved the christian revolts everywhere but now i have my population angry because i converted to christianism... (and i cant even come close to kill their damn monks because when i have near to 20 agents of my own i have to recruit half of them everyturn because they get killed).

And its like... wtf... i having christian revolts of nearly a full stack in provinces in which i have 85% of Shinto Buddhism...

Am i doing something wrong or has this gonne a bit out of the hands of CA?

This happens in vanilla. Just have to find a way to deal with it, countering with your own agents, killing them with ninja etc.

When you say vanilla you mean un-modded or without any expansion dlc? (rots/fots)

Is there any particular mod/dlc that fixes this?

Some campaigns turn this way sometimes, where you have to literally grind your way out of an agent crisis. There are a few tactics on this, mine is as follows:

    1. Train full suit of agents (i.e. 5 of each type)
    2. Leave 2 of each in settlements to progress to second level (unless you own provinces with Magistrate, Pilgrim Hostel or Smuggling Network where you get agents at rank 3)
    3. Keep rotating agents, i.e. once your agents have "matured" send to action and recruit agents to replace KIA ones and pop then into settlements again while your more experienced agents pick up the baton
    4. Mob their missionaries with a monk, ninja and metsuke. Chances are that it will be ninja who gets them; generally try to have as many stabs at each of their agents as possible in a single turns.
    5. You will eventually grind through their agents and get the upper hand in this fight... ... that is if you're determined enough to see it through. I have abandoned a fair few campaigns because it was just tedious in the extreme. I've never had a revolt problem but had a number of agent grind fests and it's not great.

Again, specialised buildings help because a rank 3 agent is a much, much more useful agent than a rank 1 bod. Good luck.

Monks don't really have anything to do with Christian armies...

To get rid of Monks, it's best to use Ninjas (there is a rough RPS going Ninja beats Monk beats Metsuke beats Ninja).

You need to convert your populace to Christianity fully, that should stop both.

How so? i see a monk approaching a city and instantly a christian army appears in the region...

Getting rid of monks is actually harder that way when the map is completelly flooded with enemy agents from several factions (I'm the shogun right now so im at war with every other faction and i just can't field as many agents as they do, not to mention how tedious and boring it is, the AI is better at multitasking so they dont really give af uck)

There are two ways Monks can create rebellions:
    1. actively by using the "Incite Revolt" ability. This will always cause Buddhist uprisings, not Christian ones (this is what I was referring to).
    2. passively by just being in the region and having a "raise unhappiness" skill or trait.
This will cause the type of rebellions that would occur if they weren't present, you just need more countermeasures to prevent it; sounds like that's what is happening for you. So basically you need to raise happiness in your region (garrison, own agents, happiness buildings).
It's still weird you get Christian rebellions although you converted; are you sure you did? Usually you get Buddhist ones if you're Christian.

Yes it's annoying for a while, and expensive because you need to rebuild all the agents you lose in the process. But once you got the enemy agents to a reasonable count, they will only trickle in from then on and be manageable.
Do make sure you have enough Churches to spread Christianity (which will remove the "different religion" unhappiness) and recruit Missionaries, which are amongst the largest advantages Christianity offers.
They're almost OP once you start inciting rebellions on your own in the enemy neighboring regions.

Or use Mstsuke [its actually easier than Ninja]
Its easy to make war with others, its never been easy when we need a peace.

My holy damn simple tactic; Strike First, Strike HARD and SHOW NO MERCY.

Missionaries are pretty insane. I used some with the Otomo, and they had like a 80% revolt chance, and I could just make everything rebel. Was kind of insane (in hindsight, not the best long term plan, as it murdered the growth of all those territories).
