I'm not really sure, but I think you can, the limit is for you to accomplish the goal of your campaign, if you don't succeed until then, you've failed, but you can still play. But I may be wrong.
Thank you for responding.
I am wonder because I'd like to try to rule the world ie take all towns cites castles etc.
You must edit the descr_strat.txt file I believe. (For the CD version: C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign. For the Steam version, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign) From there, look for and open the descr_strat.txt file. After scrolling down a few lines you should see something like:
start_date 1080 summer
end_date 1530 winter
timescale 2.00
I believe there are three ways to change the length- editing the timescale, the start_date, or the end_date. Editing the end_date is probably the easiest and safest way.
Always remember to save backups of the files you edit!
You can play a campaign forever. Your victory conditions may expire, but the campaign never does.
