History:
In ages past, raiders from the north came down over the mountains. They slaughtered and pillaged defenseless desert villages. When the raiders finally desisted and trekked back over the mountains, the sun burned intensely. The white sun, lasted for an afternoon and no heat was ever felt like that again. The raiders were roasted alive by the white sun, and the mountain pass the raiders invaded from was dubbed the Sun Pass.
The Alvarrs have always protected the desert, always stayed vigilant against invaders attempting to pillage and conquer. It's no wonder people followed the family who controlled the Sun Pass.
Times were dark for the Kingdom of the Desert. Plague and disease. Brought by traders from the east. Once it was in Seavilla, it just ravaged the desert. Coughing, blisters, fevers that would not break due to the heat. Thousands died. The ruling house was no exception. King Alvarr, his queen, his second born son, his infant grandson; taken by the Plague. Raul Alvarr was crowned with death and decay. He inherited a dying land, a dying people. He cried that day. For his land, his family, his people. That was two years ago. The Plague is all but gone, existing in small pockets in sparsely populated towns. The recovery of the Kingdom is going well, but, to get over the Sorrowful Summer, Raul Alvarr must strengthen the resolve of his people. Nothing can unite a society more than bloodshed. The North. Strangers, foreigners, enemies. Victory and celebration, the cure for grief and stagnation.
Characters:
Raul "The Sorrowful King" Alvarr: First Chief of the Pass, first in his name, and first in his people's hearts. Raul has done exceptionally well for such a short period of time on the throne. He is described as a rash, unbending, yet compassionate man. He is dubbed sorrowful for the pain he has overcome in his short reign. A soldier at heart, he was raised as his father's squire, learning to battle with spear and sword. Despite attending tourneys and fighting off pillagers in his youth, he still has an itch for battle. He has villianized the northern kingdoms in order to unify his people after the great tragedy. He plans on calling his banners at the Tourney of Velancia. His decision to sound the drums of war will either bring great victory or more sorrow. "How do they sleep, while our mothers weep." - King Raul Alvarr
Prince Ramses Alvarr: Prince Ramses has always preferred books and women to swords and killing. He was spent his youth in Seavilla, with his grandfather, where he learned the secrets of trade and political intrigue. Still young, he has a gift for finding out information, whether by his seductive skills or generous wallet. This skill will come in handy when he inherits the throne, which might be sooner than he would like. Ramses does not share his father's enthusiasm to go and get sons and fathers killed. He believes that enough lives have been lost, and more bloodshed will resolve nothing. There are a few lords that agree with him, but the common man has been swept up with religious fervor for war. He is rumored to have fathered 3 bastards while with his grandfather. "Who has won when we're all dead?" -Prince Ramses Alvarr

He was dubbed "The White Sun" and his followers "Children of the Sun." War is approaching, and Lucio was announced as "Third Chief of the Pass." Lord Santo Olvio: The third most powerful lord in the realm, he rules over Velancia. Lord Olvio's sister was King Paul II's wife, so he is uncle to the reigning king. He is a trader at heart and hasn't fought since his youth. Velancia is set to host a grand tourney soon. He is rich, and is rumored to house dozens of concubines.
Lord Rey Pescadore: Father of Queen Siviana, he has survived the plague, but old age has taken a toll on him. He lost his left arm in defense of Seavilla from Eastern Pirates ages ago. He is very fond of his grandson, Prince Ramses. He has taught him the art of trade and has given him many valuable books. Although a trader, he will always be a sailor at heart. He despises Damian Verde, and vice versa. Rumors say they got in a fight over an eastern woman, who happened to be a pirate, her ship was lost at sea though.
Lord Paulo Sangrenegra: His grandfather is the High Septon. His father was killed in a raid several years ago. He has not forgiven the raiders, who he claims, wore the arms of House Esperanda. He hopes to go to war, to earn more respect and hopefully get House Esperanda to pay for their crimes.
Lord Martin Decimo: Lord of Saya, a port city for the Southern Sea. He is a quiet man and rarely leaves the city. Times have changed since the Plague, but he refuses to accept the upcoming war. He has told his men to stay away from heading to the north, and partaking in the Velancia tournament. He lost his twin sons to the Plague, and his only daughter is his heir. She happens to be one of Prince Ramses' paramours, and plans on running away to meet him in Velancia soon.
Lord Alejandro Boldres: Lord of Boldres Keep, he is good friends to Prince Ramses, maybe his closest companion. As such, he is against the war and hopes to gain momentum against King Alvarr's war path. He plans to enter the tourney, and crown Oria Alvarr, the queen of beauty.
Lord Adrian Castilla: Lord of Deliva, he is rather young. The Plague took his family, making him a Lord at age 13. He is adamant about going to war and proving himself to the much older lords. Before the Plauge, he was a squire in King Raul's court, with Prince Lucio. They became quick friends, and that has continued to this day. He was knighted by the White Sun, and is his second in command.
Lord Selia Llover: She holds over a port town on the desert sea. Her father died earlier in the year, and she has inherited his estate. As is Dornish custom, she is Lord until her death. This doesn't deter the offers of marriage though. She has raised his levies in defense of his keep, since the northern villains might plan to attack soon. House Llover is known for building some of the best ships around.
Lord Marcel Esperanda: Lord of Arrena, a seaside castle. He was a rival for the late Lord Sangrenegra, who married his childhood sweetheart. Rumors say he sent forces to raid, and slay his rival. This has spurred a rise in hostility between both houses. This hatred is nothing new, these two houses have hated each other for ages.
Lord Andres Mayne: Lord Mayne, Defender of the Dunes. He is the primary defense against desert bandits that harm the realm. He teamed up with Prince Lucio to help the weak, and has challenged him to multiple first blood rules. Safe to say, he is a fan of the White Sun, and is happily anticipated the start of war.
Lord Damian Verde: He is a cruel man. His island was largely unaffected by the plague, and he has spent time time raiding the Eastern shores. People call him a pirate, but he prefers the term, "just raider." Although outspoken and slightly hated, he knows his place and his ships are a great defense for the realm. He despises Rey Pescadore, and vice versa. Rumors say they got in a fight over an eastern woman, who happened to be a pirate, her ship was lost at sea though.
