Shogun 2 Destroying Core 1
Hey all,
As the title suggests, having Shogun 2 open is now maxing out core 1 of my Q6600 OCed to 3.2Ghz. It's been absolutely fine with other games, older total war titles, etc, but Shogun 2 is killing me.

Is it really that bad at multicore optimisation?
Cheers,
- HateDread.

In short, yes. Shogun 2 only offloads some minor work onto other cores, overall game performance will be purely determined by single core performance.
Honestly most games are just as bad with multicore support, Shogun 2 just happens to be one of the most cpu intensive games around so it's easy to spot the problem.

Shogun 2 is unplayable for me in battles. In FotS I find it's okay. The melee in Shogun 2 seems especially taxing of the CPU and the reliance on a single core makes for terrible gameplay, especially for AMD users, since the raw grunt per core is generally a lot lower than Intel CPUs.
My system for reference: AMD Phenom II 955 quad core processor @3.2 Ghz
I am worried about Rome II battles now. CA seem to have done very little multi-core optimization in the whole series so far. I don't plan to waste money again on a game I can't properly play.

Quit unnessecary programms with gamebooster or tools like that or let other programms work on your third or fourth processor, this gave me between 5-10fps more.
