What is your favourite unit?

As the title, what is your favorite unit across the board, rise, reign and fall of the samurai (ROTS, shogun and FOTS)? And why?

For me, I guess it has to be a unit from FOTS even though it is shogun that I play the most. The shinsengumi! I just love these guys, cool looking uniforms (especially with a small recoulor mod, not telling you which one...), good range stats and just sick melee stats! They combine all you could possibly want from fots, tradition and modern weapons! For me, they are my favourite unit! (you're welcome to say that they suck ofc)

Matchlock Samurai from S2TW because they can wipe any hero unit with 2 volleys.

Yari Ashigaru.

They're certainly not the best unit that I could field, but I find myself relying on them more than any other (considering they always form the backbone of my army).

Yari Samurai. I seem to always use them to turn the battle.

Oda Long Yari Ashigaru. For a unit that isn't ridiculously (or in fact remotely) effective for it's cost and upkeep, the No-Dachi Hero. I like their little picture

Warrior Nuns. I like the Onna Bushi, but as she isn't recruitable or usable (aside from the Gozen) in MP, I can't really use her much at all.

Still, Warrior Nuns are so darn expensive, and they can never seem to beat units if they get ganged up on. They can handle units one on one... but maybe not Samurai one on one. Their small unit size is a major hindrance...

Katana samurai are always brave and realiable, I think they are my favourite,specially since they AI almost never gets cavalry.

Spear horse hero unit vs Hanzo Shadow.. hard decision >.> I loved both.

Horse hero almost wipe everything in their charge, Hanzo Shadow wipe everything everywhere that have shadow [Land]

I voted Hanzo Shadows then because Ninja with masked is awesome :p and for itself is the most powerful land unit so far, force stealth and bomb go go.

Naginata Samurai, they are my main front line infantery force in neraly every battle. great great great unit.

Yari Cavalry, it seems that regardless of what other units I'm working with I always find myself wanting/needing at least one. They can't melee with non-missile infantry for an extended period of time like Katana Cavalry, but if you can flank and charge the right part of the enemy army at the right time it the whole line will collapse and rout. It doesn't have to be the general either, just some stressed infantry in melee who will disintegrate and trigger a chain rout when charged from behind. Equally important is their ability to intercept enemy cavalry who might be trying to do the same to you. Lastly, even if your opponent doesn't give you chance to use them fully their very presence will force him to divert assets to keep them at bay.

I prefer to use Yari Samurai for that purpose as it does not require the mobility of cavalry and the foot samurai can at least tie up other infantry to buy the general time to escape.

special mention to the Yari ash that usually makes up 95% of my armies , gotta love that spearwall (Yari Hei !! )

I'd have to go RotS and chose the Mounted Naginata. Its just so satisfying to use them in a game where cav is quite rare.

Takeda Fire Cavalry. With experience, their charge can literally destroy two units, and they're available from relatively early on, which gives you an advantage.

Long yari ashigaru. A seriously OP unit when deployed in long lines with spear wall on. I really think that this unit and spear wall in general needs to be rebalanced.

Second place would be donderbus cavalry or maybe portugese tercos. Both units have amazing fire-power and are a match for most samurai units in close combat.
