I don't know. Is it something you can eat?

    Serious now.
Have you considered adding wedge to the formation line in the EDU of a unit? (I haven't tried this before)

Gosh, I remember Julianus Heraclius SeniorBatavianHorse from IBFD writing a manual in AAR-form about late roman infantry tactics, but I can't find it anymore.
Anyway, the way he represented a "cuneus" is as follows: First, a real, i.e. pointy wedge is probably not what was in use, since the first man would most certainly have been killed on impact. A trapezoid form is more probable. Still, this cannot be represented with the RTW engine correctly, but there's a workaround.

Set the formation to be rectangular with the the front being shorter than the sides and activate the defend mode.
Order the unit to move behind the enemy unit. On contact they will push through the enemy lines, respectively the enemy envelopes them.
Deactivate the defend mode, your men will start fighting in all directions, disrupting the enemy lines.

Alternatively you can create a wedge with two units marching in a column, the first one with a short front and the second extending beyond the lines of the first unit.

It does work, but you should expect losses. Also I recommend to do this only with heavily-armed units.

I would rather have a memory that is fair but unfinished than one that goes on to a grievous end.

I'm guessing he means a wedge or cuneum and has managed to misspell it twice. Anyway, i would like to see it returning for infantry too in some shape or form. Not necessarily as a sharp triangle as in medieval I but perhaps as a blunt one or an assault column, with the men being brought into closer order than the norm like the shieldwall in rtw Bi. It would pribably see more use among players than the testudo of RTW.

I actually use to manipulate this formation by setting up the different regiments in a way that alot of them together shapes this form. /\/\/\ Just like that you can recreate it with five units. To be fair tho this only works while defending seeing as it's impossible to make the units move forward like this.
