Unspecified Error on startup

I finished downloading Third Age Total War a while ago and tried to start it and it gave me "Medieval 2 Total War has encountered an unspecified error and needs to close," then if I try to start the game again it says its already running yet its not. I've tried all the different fixes I could find online and none have worked so far. Sooo, help? Plz?

I also used Americas to switch with Third Age, not sure if that makes a diff.

It's probably a bad install. Read this thread and report back here if you still have problems.

Thanks for the reply! I've still got all the TATW installers I got out of the torrent on my desktop, should I re-download them all or just reinstall?

You don't need to redownload unless you received an "invalid data" message while you are installing.

Reinstalled and tried to play, same thing happened :/

Well that was strange, for lack of a better word. I think its a problem with steam though I don't exactly know how it possibly could have happened, my other games that use steam won't play either, they don't give me a message though, they start up and then immediately go to desktop and their nonresponsive, I have to use task manager to close them. And this didn't happen before I installed the mod :'(

Your TATW were downloaded from some torrent? Maybe steam thinks it is a pirated game and now they blocked your account.. contact the steam service if nothing els helps.
