Disease in Spain

Hey guys,

I've noticed that every time I conquer the Spanish lands, there is always an outbreak of plague throughout various settlements, usually Toldeo and Zaragoza. The population is at a healthy rate as well. anyone had this as well? does it tie into anything historical?

Well if there is the plauge event mesage coming up at the start of turn it should be.

I'd check historical records (might be somethign about it in wikipedia). A few of us were talking about how the AI Pope routinely calls crusades on Tolouse and no one knew why until a chap posted something about Pope Innocent III actually calling a crusade on Tolouse in the 1200's.

Other than that, I know small outbreaks of disease pop up every now and then in random cities. I think Palmero just had an outbreak in my Venice campaign.

im the one that said the pope hates toulouse, but the pope never formally declared a big crusade against the nihilists there. historically yes, southern france was taken by a group of priests who claimed that the way to god was through extreme poverty or the like (not exactly sure), but they were seen as heretical.

as for the disease, ive never had that happen. now let me ask you a question, OP: how often is "every time i conquer them"? once every ten games? difficulty? are you conquering them right before the great plague? give us some more info dang it!

every time you conquer them they plague? its not impossible, but the chance of it happening is slim. what usually happens is that if playing on VH map difficulty the AI gets huge bonuses to everything, money and population growth included. once you conquer said settlements, the city will have a huge amount of population and a new high level of squalor, due to your own squalor penalties, and this will increase the odds of a plague breaking out.

if its due to the great plague, just endure it.

how often? it literally is every time, i've played as almost every european faction besides sicily and scotland, and i've played them from medium to very hard difficulty, as the years have gone by. And yes, this is after the plague, i can't remember the exact number of turns after the plague, but at least 15 turns after the plague. the population isn't at a ridiculous number and the people have become quite happy now

Random plauges are possible, just build building that provide the public health bonuses.
