i dont recommmand playing an evil faction coz u have to face elves (their archers run and shoot is giving a very bad experience to me...)

if u love a hard game and some knights fight for u, play Gondor ofcoz! or arnor if you want a better position, if u love good archers play mirkwood, legolas is there to help!

i personnally love playing Gondor, the special characters, beautiful units etc.

Aha >.> you play evil on the wrong cards maybe?

swarm of goblins, horde of orc, group of troll actually make the game too easy.
Its easy to make war with others, its never been easy when we need a peace.

My holy damn simple tactic; Strike First, Strike HARD and SHOW NO MERCY.

Gondor is awesome. Dwarves and Dale are worth playing, Eriador is good but its a challenge. Never played isengard and not given Rohan much of a look.

As you just returned to this mod, i think you should go with :

    High elves
    Dwarves
    Harad
    Mirkwood

I'd probably recommend Gondor as a great showcase of what the mod in general, and especially MOS, has to offer these days. You get the fun of having at least 6 custom settlements that can be hit by attackers, several quality commanders, a few great mod scripts and abilities (tol acharns, beacons of gondor, rebuilding of osgiliath for example), and a fairly competetive and diverse combat environment facign multiple adversaries, plus a strong economy and diverse military structure that gives you a little bit of everything.

Thanks for the reply's guys, i narrowed it down to Either Dwarves, Sylvan or Gondor. High Elves are too easy and isolated for my liking not much expansion options and too far from the action

    Hi and welcome back

You already got many good advices and if you already have some experience I'm sure you made up your mind.
My advice is to choose according to what you want to do, I mean some factions are easier because of the starting position and economy, but are less enjoyable due to limited army "options". It's up to you, if you want to build up economy mainly and turtle in some extension go for Elves or Dwarves, if you want more variety on the battlefield (and sooner!) go for Evil human factions or Rohan/Gondor.

I do love Dwarves and Elves, but I never finished 100% one of their campaigns, 'cause in the long therm I get bored of using always the same tactic on the battlefield.

Gondor is certainly the less boring faction you can play with... Unless you'll get bored fighting both Mordor and Harad from the very begining. I have never played Dwarves though..

I love playing as Dale with MOS but if you just started playing I suggest Gondor because of the custom settlements.

I personally find the HE tremendous fun if you roleplay them in a lore-crippled sort of way. Meaning personally I rule only Lindon settlements, with a few contiguous added on with the EMM the main Goal being the preservation of Gondor, Arnor and Dale. Do not accept the Elves are leaving script if you play like this though as it depends on power rankings, and Lore based play keeps you pretty weak.

Gondor is my second favorite faction by far.

Eriador, if you want a fairly easy campaign.

Gondor, if you want a very hard one.

    Dale, same as above.

HE & SE, if you want an archer based faction that is easy.

Rohan, if you want a cavalry based faction that's medium.

Rhûn & Harad, if you want a good-economy faction with a good all-around unit roster.

The Dwarves can both be difficult and easy. You'll almost never get invaded, unless you really piss of Rhun and HE and you've got the best heavy infantry in Middle Earth despite what those pesky Noldoli says. On the other hand you often have to pick your battles cos you just won't do as good in the open field. Make sure to always fight the large enemy armies in settlements.

I'd recommend the Silvans (them or Lorien, since you said you're playing MOS). Gondor is a tough fight (though certainly never boring) unless you really know what you're doing, so it might not be the best for coming back after so long. Though if you know what you're doing, by all means go for it. The Dwarves are quite powerful, but it can be annoying playing a faction that is SO infantry-dependent. The Silvans are short on cavalry, but they have a nice archer/infantry mix, good early expansion options, a couple enemies to fight early, and a reasonable distance to march to Mordor to finish it up.

I forgot about Lorien with MOS...mainly because as AI they do nothing but hit the Moria East Gate all game while Mordor rolls in from Dol Guldur

Eriador! You get to fight 3 of the four evil factions immediately, and you don't have to face endless stacks that Gondor does. Not to mention, your troops are mediocre at best, and that's more of a challenge late game.

That's a good promotion. "we're mediocre at best!"

I personally consider Eriador's late game units to be Anorian units and those are far from mediocre. There are 6 evil factions and not 4 by the way.

As for my own recommendation, I would recommend Rhun. A forgiving economy, a balanced unit roster and enemies you should be able to handle. Rhun allows all sorts of strategy, including turtling as far as I know, although you will only make it harder for yourself if you allow your enemies to grow strong.
