Third Age is shutting off whenever I enter a battle!

I downloaded Third Age Total War a few months ago, but later I had to send my computer into Best Buy to get techy surrport and they had to give me a new hardrive so I had to reinstall the Kingdoms and the Mod. But now whenever I play a battle the game exits and tells me it has shut off due to an "unspecific error." I dont under stand what happened, i installed the game the same way. What do I do to fix it?

For battle crashes, there are many threads on the subject. Generally deleting these two files in the TATW data folder should fix the problem:

descr_georgraphy_new data base file
descr_georgraphy_new text document

I have the same problem and neither changing the clockthing or removing the files work.. tried reinstalling it with the clock off as well.. :/

I can play normal battles on custom battle, havent gotten that far in campain yet. Each time i try to attack a town in campain or custom it crashes. Apart from one time where i attacked an enemy group inbetween east and west osilgiath, but it was still in a "siege" enviroment. So perhaps its just the "siege" part that s it all up..

i have a crash problem when i use specific units like swan knights and with some city sieges. i change the daylight saving and delete the geography files with no resolts
i'de be gratefull if you could give me some more advise

sry i forgot to mention i use the 3.2 mod and i dont have steam

Hi there and welcome to TWC forums!
Well, this can be a result from other things, like your PC not having enough RAM, or your CPU being weak for TATW ( M2TW engine uses only one core, and if you have quadcore 2.4 GHz, it could stil be lagy due to this engine usage limit).
What are your system specs ( GPU, RAM, CPU) laptop or desktop PC?
Have you tried to lower your Video settings? You can check these instructions for some TATW settings and tips: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...0#post12421300

And you can also use GameBooster ( more info here).

If you have desktop PC, open it`s case and clean out the dust, even from cooling fans. Don`t use Vacuum cleaner, use a can of compressed air, or air pump for bike tyres.

Lower Video Options, use GameBooster, lower UNIT SIZE.

isnt it strange that crashes only with swan knights ? i did most of the things you just wrote except the game booster and still those damn knights dont want to fight

It looks like that RAZER version has problems.. You can try with IOBIT GameBooster. Google it.
