    Default Bad Economy

Hey guys, just started playing the mod recently. It's my first TW mod and I've really enjoyed my time spent so far, much more than playing just kingdoms. Anyways I've been having trouble getting a good source of income. Ive tried to keep my army count low, etc, but that only gives me maybe 2k income at most. I don't think that's the right path since my armies take a while to recruit, it wouldn't make much sense to disband them.

Any tips? I've played as Silvar and Dwarves.

Don't accept generals unless they are really good. Their wages are one of the largest money sinks.

    Yeah I generally don't. I have 5-6 generals only.

    Hi and well met

Economy is a common issue to new players (it was so for me too ) keep in mind the following:

    - corruption is a money killer in the game, keep your capital at the center of your kingdom (at least when it becomes bigger or stretched out)
    - as said keep an eye on army upkeep, especially for generals
    - the population growth is much lower than standard M2TW, so to invest in increasing it (both lowering taxes and building relevant structures) is mandatory and to be done asap
    - invest widely in markets, mines, roads and so on
    - always look at your general traits and look for the best administrators and put them in the money making cities

those are just some general suggestions, have a look here too http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=568344

    hope it helps

Try Rhun first. They are a great faction to start with as they have a good economy, enemies you can handle and a varied unit roster. This game is designed to be hard, so prepare for campaigns with less stacks than you're used to.

Sorry, I just started playing TW: M2 coming from TW : Rome. I guess I have to get accustomed to smaller stacks haha instead of a couple full stacks generals running around. I've noticed there are a lot more turns as well. It feels weird only building one thing every couple of turns, feels like I am wasting a turn by just waiting and moving a spy/diplomat around?

Nah, TA just starts out really slow. BTW Generals are also far and away the most powerful units at the start and you don't have to retrain them. Get a half stack of them and conquer territories (with them) and your economic troubles will be permanently over.

I agree with Bowmaster. 2k income is fantastic for a significant portion of the game, imo. Playing as High Elves, I was very pleased when I had about ~150 income, considering they start out bleeding money.

If you want a better income, start capturing provinces. You will earn money soon enough that way.

It's ok. This mod asks you to adapt or sink. If you want, I can point you to a guide (sorry for the self promotion again) in which I played a vh/vh high elven campaign. maybe it would help you.

Note that your faction has very high quality units and thus shouldn't suffer too many losses to get somewhere.

When Economically I rely heavily on my Generals, I like building up traits. Some Generals couldn't manage latrine duty but can tax and trade and build, end game most of my generals are governors. I only have a few actual fighters

For example in an MOS campaign Cirdan grows population and adds 800 per turn and gets a thirty percent discount on buildings. Late game this is massively important when building 3rd and 4th tier buildings. Problem is early game my quendi are carrying a heavy fighting load.

I generally late game keep him bouncing between settlements reducing my construction costs. This takes a lot of tax management early game though, or they get bad traits, markets, city halls, walls, culture and entertainment are all important in making a good governor.

    Edit:
Last point, just because a general is a governor does not mean you can just leave him sit, they get bad traits with that. Move them out and move them back, you have too use up their movement points each turn.

You have to study a little bit on the forum how to buid right economy, but if you where a good economist on the Medieval 2 standard and whit Kingsdom on VH/VH,you have to be a good economist in the third age,the basics are the same the dificulty is harder.
