Issues with STEAM

I have downloaded and installed both parts of 3.0 and the 3.1 and 3.2 patches into Medieval 2's mods folder and i renamed(americas) it like everyone says your supposed to bot when i launched the game it played the regular americas campaign. What am I missing here?

You don't download the parts to your M2TW folder, you run the installers and install it to the M2TW folder.

I noted in my initial post that "I downloaded and installed" the files. So yes, I downloaded the file and then ran the installer and put it in the M2TW folder.

Uninstall TATW using Control Panel\ Uninstall program, and delete that RENAMED americas folder where your Third Age was.
Now point ALL TATW Installers to install onto your desktop, you will get a folder named mods, open it and inside you will find Third_Age_3 folder. Now, if you have Windows 7, 8 or Vista, go here and apply step 3 from section How to fix it for your Steam/Steamapps/Common/Medieval II Total War folder. ( so apply it to your Medieval 2 TW folder)
After this, Copy paste that Third_Age_3 folder into your Steam/Steamapps/Common/Medieval II Total War/mods folder, rename americas to americas2, Third_Age_3 folder rename to americas and that should be it.
Finally, select the americas campaign from the Steam menu and the mod should launch.
