Default Dales Vs Rhun very hard difficulty

I'm playing rhun campaign atm at very hard difficulty and when i attack settlement that i see for example it has 3 units i get surprised at sieging that the settlement has like 6 units ...
and i noticed that King bard at early turns of the game has very advanced units roaming the map with him then when i spied on dales settlements i didn't find any advanced barracks to summon them ... is this normal on very hard difficulty or there's bug on my game ?

last question .. is the military report that i see in the early game has to do something with this ?

This is the garrison script which was created because the vanilla AI is notoriously bad at protecting its settlements. So when you besiege a city, make sure you do it with enough troops.

Only AI; as Accius said it's there to help the AI against a human strategic player hehe

That's the Barrack Event and mean that you can not recrute any elite units before the Second, at turn 41.

My guide for Rhun. It's far from complete, but it should at least very well cover how to take care of Dale and the Dwarves. I'll continue the moment my high elven campaign is finished.

In 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 there is a notice, or first barracks event at turn 4 and a second at turn 41.

However, in 2.x there was one at turn 1 one around turn 40-50 and one around turn 80. This has led to some general confusion on the matter.

    1. As several others have said, the "extra" units in enemy settlements are from the garrison script, which kicks in on certain key AI settlements to spawn extra units there (sometimes including high-level ones) when it is besieged. This is one of the many scripts meant to prevent the AI from getting steamrolled. Also, most (all?) settlements have the ability to recruit units normally while under siege if they belong to the AI.

    2. Most factions start with a couple regiments of advanced units, even though they can't actually produce those units until much later. As an example, in my own Dale campaign, I started with a unit of Dale Swordmasters (elite infantry) and another of Athala Rangers (elite archers), as well as 1-2 of Longbowmen (mid-tier archers).

    3. The barracks events don't affect the initial high-level units from what I mentioned in #2; they just provide a minimum number of turns before anyone can recruit higher-level units. However, keep in mind that the AI will always be able to build up their cities faster than a human player, so you will start to see mid- and high-level units in their armies much sooner after the barracks events than you will be able to build them yourself.

True, but the AI also gets high tier troops by scripts, I think there's one called "slave conquerer" or something like that which gives the AI an elite army in the beginning to enable it to conquer rebel settlements more easily. Can be quite annoying if you're e.g. playing Rohan and Isengard starts with a full Uruk-hai stack that immediately comes after you...
Capturing key settlements will also grant the AI free stacks that are far beyond it's possibilities, as does the garrison script.
