It's my first real game with this mod and have noticed that while the empire factions are all allied, the chaos factions are not. The result is that they are slaying each other and the game goes very easy, even on VH/VH... is this normal?![]()

Chaos will unite at around turn 65 and Archaon will lead the storm of chaos south: the old-world will cry out in despair, a cry that will be muffled with it's own ashes. Tremble, mortals, for the lord of the end times approaches.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are so certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubts.

Of course they will slay each other. They are chaos.
yeah, but fluffwise they were indeed united under the leadership of archaon during the storm of chaos.
When 3 of the Chaos Powers are destroyed they become Undivided, under Archaon in this instance, it's the same throughout all of WHF and WH40K, Chaos uniting, commonly after a war to go attack their foes in a unified unstoppable force. Sometimes in WH40k they ally for things like the Black Crusades without bloodshed between eachother, it's uncommon though.
a storm of chaos is the equivalent of a black crusade in warhammer fantasy.this is how it happens:the four gods gather in a place in the chaos realms called The Court Of Covenant and agree to set aside their differences and choose one champion to lead their armies.this champion is called the Everchosen, and it wasn't only Archaon who had the title.Asavar Kul was another rater successful(deadly) Everchosen.fortunately for the rest of the warhammer world, such an event only happens once in several centuries.
The fluff is quite complicated. There are three northern races: The Kurgan, the Hung and the Norse. They are in perpetual war with eachother and themselves. When the campaign starts in COW Archaon is still searching for the crown of Domination and so does not take part until later on. Crom the conqueror is actually the high-king of the Kurgan tribes and king of the Kul, hence the name Conqueror, but doesn't really take part because he was sent on a crusade by Archaon to destroy Karak Kadrin and flank the empire, taking many of his warriors, leaving his lands and titles behind for others to fight over. The high-king of the Norse is off map and worships Olric and is relatively neutral and has less than half the Norse tribes under "control", which are also off map. The Great Khan (high-king) of the Hung is also off map and is presumably fighting Cathay and so doesn't take part. What the creators of COW decided to do to simulate the perpetual infighting of the chaos tribes (leading up to the point where Archaon obtains the crown of domination) is to separate them into the four followers of the gods under the command of Archaon's four lieutenants, until one demonstrates his ability to become his prime lieutenant.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are so certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubts.
