    Default Anyone feels like me?

Well... heres the thing. Every day (almost) i check round on the internet after new previews, screens and info about M2TW. Well, I know that by doing this I am kind of ruining parts of the gameplay for myself... because when i buy it i will know every single thing about this game. Instead of suprises like "What?!?! AMERICA?!? :O!!!" and "Cool, can I do that and this?!? Awesome!!" I go every day now and think of the game posetively now, instead of enjoying it to the max when it comes out.

My point is... I know that i will found out about every flaw from R:TW that will be fixed like the AI and the diplomatic system, and all the "suprises" I will get when I buy the game are suprises like in this situation: "Oh, ive heard that the AI will be soooo much greater!!" ...and then i find out that it is improved, but not as much as i thought.... therefore several negative impressions of details in the game.

This is very hard to explain, espessiallly when im not English (at all)
Anyway... Does anyone feel like me in this thing? Its like... I know i shouldnt, but I cant wait!

are you saying that you have very high expectations of the game that arent consitent with reality cuasing you to dislike the game, even if it is a good game, becuae it didnt live up to your expectations? Then no, im not like you.

I read all the previews and reviews and even watch the gameplay movies, but somehow none of it goes to heart until I actually play the game. I dont even take the reviews very serously until I have it in my hands. some of the time the reviewers have diffrent interpretations of the same features than me, and I have a firaly unique taste in games for it to be quite often. So in other words I view previews and reviews to be a hint of what the product is, but I make no conculsion before I actually play it.

I just watch the videos once and never again and I only read a select few previews for tha very reason that I don't want to know EVERYTHING about a game before buying it. I like surprises.

Most people are just going to knock you for your post, but I do understand where you are coming from. Rather then taking the game for what it is, we all come to these forums every day, and by the game's release know every thing it is and is not. There is no adventure or exploration. You are going to ride into battle with a faction that you already know you are going to play first, and know all the tricks/ploys immediately!

Ah! Thanks! Thats excactly what I mean! I was a little afraid when I wrote this post, but I've got my own oppinion, and I think that there are other people that feel the same way... And makes this clear: I do NOT have anything against people who feel the opposite way as me but this one may be some kind of warning for people... I regret that I found out so much about R:TW before i buyed it, but still im sitting here on this forum before the m2:tw release

I understand what you are talking about.
In some ways you wanna shut yourself off from any info on the game not to spoil things but it is damn hard.
But still even tho you know most things already it won't make you enjoy the game less.
There are usually somethings you will always discover when you play.
The features you seen in previews and such are usually things you will see when you start the game so you don't really discover them and still they will never tell you how it works exactly so that's something to look forward too.

yes ofcourse tb666. There will always be something unexplored. As far as we know there can be another jewel as big as the american part of the game which they will keep secret, but the idea of getting everything trough this screen when I play myself - be shocked when I see an elephant with a damn cannon on his back, get freaky when i discover that the new unit that i just got kicks ass and so on.

But on the other hand I cant wait... I want to find out as much as possible, because the TW series is perfect for me, and with the flaws from R:TW removed, this will be the best game ive ever tried.

Though I dont think I could run the program on my computer because of the behemothic system requirements, but I can say this: it would be funny that CA would put on a pre-release hype (with movie-clips as the "actual" in game graphics) and all the gizzmos and gadgets the diehard gamer likes-- ONLY for the game to suck and be a huge dissapointment.

Just look at all the talk and speculations, on forums like these, of ridiculous aspects of game play like facial expressions and historical accuracy. Sure things like that would be very very nice to experience, but I feel that by talking so much before the acutal game is release only gets the spirits up high. Like Eore from Winnie the pooh (ahahaha) you always need to lower your expectations and view the glass as half empty. Only then when you dont expect much and play a high-end game is when you can shout and be happy!

Just a thought. It would be nice if I had a newer computer (mine is about 6 years old) so I could investigate M2TW myself, because I am huge into history and the old ways. But I will just leave it to this forum in late november, early december.

So I guess I feel somewhat like you.

    They won't be that bad.
Shogun stated that if you could run RTW on high settings then you can run M2TW on medium.

I can barely run MTW1 on my computer with default size armies. If I goto huge it will lag incredibly. Just a side note.

I know exactly what you mean. Personally, I found a clear connection between games I really enjoyed, and games that I felt I just had to finish because then I know I have played them. I mean, I never really ENJOYED Half Life 2, the splinter cell series, Prey and loads of other games. I just felt I had to finish them as quickly as possible, just so I knew what all the hype was about. I just didn't care about any of those games. Part of the reason I think was that I already knew what was coming, you know? Just like you describe it.

I can only remember 2 games that I really enjoyed, that is to say, games that I would play for fun, not just to finish. And that is Warcraft 3 with expansion (because of custom maps with tower defense and all that) and Operation Flashpoint, because of kick-ass fun campaign and atmosphere.

BUT, I believe you should maybe think about it another way. The way I see it, we do have as much fun finding out about the game through previews and screenshots, as we would have playing the actual game. It's just that some of the fun comes in august, september, october, and then alot in November, instead of just ALL in November. Terrible explanation I know, let me put it like this.

NO previews and screenshots no, nothing = Lots of fun in November when game is released

Looking at previews and screenshots etc = as much fun, but distributed over several months when information is released

So you would of course feel that you enjoy a game more if all the enjoyment comes when actually playing the game, but don't forget you've had fun (at least I have) finding information and discussing it in forums and such.

Hehe i know what you mean. Same thing with HL2 and FEAR and so on for me too.
And i agree that you will have as much fun when you check everything out now, but is it right? Does the game deserve that you open the presents before Christmas? I think that I will get sooner bored of the game after looking up everything now instead of go straight to the game.
So... Paris Hilton promised herself that she will not have sex for a year now, and I wanna do something like that... but I know I wont make it So i guess ill see you around here the next months anyway

Hmm yes, I think so too. But I think the marketing guys over at Sega know exactly how much info they should release just to wet everyone's appetites. They lose money if people feel they know everything in advance. Excitement is a big part of buying a game, at least I believe it is for me. I'm thinking we're maybe building up a hype, so that when the game finally comes, we can perhaps enjoy it even more? Or get even more disappointed...

That's funny, because I did the same exact thing back when Resident Evil: Code Veronica came out. I was obsessed with that game!! I loved RE to death and Code Veronica was it's first stray into next gen and it looked unbelievable to me. So I checked out every single last screen, watched every movie, and read up about it. When I actually played the game I found that nothing in the game was surprising me, at every twist and turn I had already saw a screenshot of it somehow. Anyways, that was the last time I did somehting like that lol. Nowadays I am more carefull because I remember what happened. Honestly, MTW2 doesn't have me as hyped as you, but I try to show some restraint whenever a game preview has too many plot details or too many screens. So yes I suppose I know exactly what you mean is what I'm trying to say.

I dont think you're spoiling much by checking previews. Lets face it, the game wont be greatly different from RTW at a basic level. You just have different nations and units, and then more MTW1 elements like religion. The things we want that are improved are not huge surprises (AI being improved, better diplomacy/economy, better crusades, more missions). This is not a revolutionary game for the series, more just an evolutionary one and anyone who's been playing TW since Shogun or MTW1 should know what to expect. What I really hope is that CA executes well from the beginning and version 1.00 is playable so we dont need to wait 4 months for patches and mods to fix it, that will be the real surprise issue!!

I felt like that, about RTW, two years ago. But not with m2tw.

For me, the more previews, videos, pics, etc I check out, the more I want the game right this minute but then I quickly remember that the game is not due for awhile so then I feel bad. That's the way it was with Oblivion but I was lucky that I found out about the game a month before it was released so the wait wasn't that bad. I'm trying hard to avoid getting too hyped up about M2TW but being a TW Community moderator makes that a difficult task to accomplish because I have to constantly check out this forum and read through all the threads. :sweatingb
