Also, VOTM 62 needs some love. Where can we find machinima makers to pester until they join the competition?

Don't forget GPOTW wins too, they were also counted as wins for medals too.

Reckon non-PC screenshots should be allowed in the GPOTW category? Eg in-game screenshots of games played on the Xbox One or PS4 such as Halo or Uncharted? If anything the screenshots will be lower quality than PC ones, but might allow other people to join in.

I don't see any problem in this, if they can be imported from console to PC.

GPOTW could use some more loving. More submissions and higher quality.

If you have one of the NVIDIA cards on this list, you can use NVIDIA Ansel in any of these games. This is how I've taken all of my Witcher 3 screenshots.
In addition, quite a few games have in-built third person cameras, although the controls for them are quite often terrible. Alternatively, you can use the console or third party software to get a camera mode, such as my Fallout 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider screenshots.

SweetFX or ReShade can really improve the graphical quality of your screenshots (including for Total War, I even saw a thread for Medieval 2 recently).

I've a question: aren't the guys using Ansel slightly advantaged than the guys not uding Ansel?

I mean that: Ansel actually modifies the quality of the image in game exactly like GEM, but Ansel does it in a better way, so, if this is the rule:

"Edited refers to the use of software which modifies the graphical quality of the game, for example lighting mods, GemFX or Photoshop. This is not an exclusive list."

isn't the use of Ansel exactly like using GEM?

Yeah but none of the Total Wars have Ansel, so you wouldn't be able to use it in UESW. GPOTW allows both edited and non-edited screenshots, thus Ansel is allowed.

Does anyone have any ideas for something special to be done for GPOTW 50, UESW 400 and POTW 500? It'll all require approval from Flinn or Gen. Chris, but if you've got any ideas for cool stuff I'll try to get onto it.

Its a new start for everyone under my magnanimous tyranny, feel free to make any suggestions.

For GPOTW 50 we'll run it for two weeks, and then 2 Competition Points and 10 Reps for the winner.
We'll probably do the same for UESW 400
For POTW 500 we'll probably do something a bit fancier, perhaps run it for a month and have First, Second and Third place prizes.

I also made an album of the 15 Champions of the Game Picture of the Week Competition. It includes my favourite image from each champion.

Reckon GPOTW 51 submissions should open on September 1, after GPOTW 50 ends (since 50 is running for 2 weeks) or on August 25th like normal, so GPOTW 50 and 51 run at the same time?

Is there any particular reason to delay the GPOTW 51 submissions other than avoid running both 50 & 51 at the same time? I don't see the problem both of them running at the same time. It will make things a bit funnier

Doing something fancy for GPOTW 50 failed cos I'd forgotten to post a request for a front page announcement till the last minute, so we'll just do normal rep and points for it.

Hopefully for UESW 400 and POTW 500 I'll actually have something fancy.

^I had that question too, the rules are saying software only. But it's good to ask it Gen. Chris. If they don't count, i have to remove/change my submission

I'm just using Noif or previous Director's rules, so you can submit anything you want to GPOTW so long as its not a screenshot of...
a) An animation (I presume this means a gif)
b) A video (I presume Youtube videos)
c) A render (something like this) or
d) A cutscene (hard to prove if it uses the game engine)

So yeah you can use in-game photo modes, I have for all of my Witcher 3 pictures and most of my other GPOTW submissions. You don't have to provide an unedited version if you forget to, but if you do take one may as well since it might be interesting to see how much you edited it.
