RafSwi7, thank you for your generosity in offering such a great prize for this special contest.

I see the submission thread for the special competition has been posted and the first entry has already been submitted!

I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of images people choose as their entries (and I'm sure they'll be fantastic - PotW entries always are!)

    • WH series themed POTW screenshot competition. Screenshots must be from Warhammer I or Warhammer II or Warhammer III.
    • It will start next week on 31st May or on 1st June.
    • Rewards will be doubled - for victory: 2 competition point, +6 reps.
    • Competition will run parallel to our ordinary POTW competitions (so for a time being we will be running multiple POTW competitions).
    • 14 days for submissions, 14 days for voting.
    • The winner will be able to choose already released DLC from WH series, which will be gifted to him/her on Steam by me.
    • If the winner has all WH DLCs he/she might choose a different (already released) DLC from other Total War game.
    • If no DLC is chosen, we shall grant higher rep/competition award to the winner: 3 competition points, +8 reps.
    Good on ya Raf!!!

Btw, massive congratulations on tieing with me with 43 competition points!!! You'll over take Diocle and I very soon.

What game is the number one PotW 684 entry to the vote from? It is a beautiful take but it is hard to see if it relates to Total War games.

Ok, thank you Morty! What a difficult decision ahead. I am very much a scenery, color, and atmosphere guy (as witnessed by my own entries) but, on the other hand, I would like to reward competitors for making that special skillful catch in the middle of action. Damn these one-vote rounds .

When I vote, I usually try to see past the graphics quality of the game, focusing more on the composition, but also how hard it would be to reproduce. It remains guess work to a point, especially for GPOTW, because I haven't played most of those games.

I am glad that you do. To elaborate on what I said, I too try to avoid voting based on the game itself looking good, as hard as it is when not being familiar with the game in question. I try to vote for someone making the best of a game. I just now "won" a round (I see this more of a cooperative effort to share great moments from a game) in which nothing all that special was going on, but it was the best of like three dozen scenic pictures I got out of that game. The reproduction difficulty factors in greatly in my decision making as well.

To give an example, I have played Skyrim, and some of the stuff Morty posts from her sessions look fantastic even though she is running an outdated version of the game without the best graphics available. But she is capturing impressive moments.

Wow, I didn't realize it is that. Heavily edited, I guess, but very nice indeed!

Damn, I missed this round right when i was about to post my entry. I guess one shouldn't complain about the competition being so alive . Nice work everyone who contributed in time!

I am somewhat surprised that Tallion, who is a very talented video artist, entered a loading screen into the competition. I don't think I would vote for a loading screen. It is not like my entries show any particular skill, but discovering places, positioning your angle, minding the lighting, and often timing your shot takes some effort that is nice to reward with a vote.

I have contacted him regarding his submission.

EDIT: He has changed the screenshot.

Thanks! Please don't close the GPOTW round yet. I am looking through my recent pics right now to post one.

Rafswi7, what are your personal criteria for closing the round? Probably at least a minimum of 7 full days since the start of the round? How does the number of entries affect that?

Just asking both out of curiosity and because I hate missing a round. Once again, thank you (and all participants) for your efforts in keeping this going.
