    Default What's good are Ruins?

Excuse my lack of Medieval 2: Total War knowledge if this question can be answered in the vanilla game, but what is the point of owning Ruins in the campaign for Hyrule Total War?

All they're good for is building troops (and that's IF it comes with a barracks), I can't build any buildings (nor upgrade it to another settlement type), and they're a pain to keep in check and they usually end up rioting (no way to build any buildings to get them under control, just have to keep a general there for a number of turns until there is some decent public order). I can destroy "Ancient Ruins" for Rupees, but one of the descriptions mentioned they might contain treasure. Is there a way to interact with the ruins as to find treasure (I remember reading about being able to enter the various Temples, but I'm gonna guess that feature isn't in yet)? Or is it assumed that I should just burn down the "Ancient Ruins" buildings?

I have a tip! This only works for factions with diplomats though.
What I do is increase the relationship with factions that can be assimilated by giving them ruins. More often then not this'll put you in good standing with them and they'll build their special barracks.
