    Default Ummm. Unspecified Error 3.2

I've read around the forums and I have tried every answer, Disabling virtulstore (virtual store doesn't even have total war in it), Setting permissions (in fact, I already had them checked), deleting map.rmvl; and yet my problem still stands.

    Problem:
I get into the game and I would say a minute after it crashes on me and says "Medieval total war has encountered an unspecified error and will now close". Now all I've done was try to play a custom battle. Because that's always the first thing I do when I install a new mod or total war game. And not soon after I choose my faction, it quits on me. I tried going into just a quick battle and it quits half-way into the loading screen.

    Any help?

Hi there and welcome to TWC forums!

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Have you tried to disable daylight savings:
Disable daylight saving settings, if u have Windows 7 or Vista, go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time`.

If u have Windows XP, simply double click the “clock” time display in the lower right of the windows task bar. In the “Date and Time Properties” dialog box click on the “Time Zone” tab. Below the map uncheck the box labeled “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time.

When you were checking Virtual store, you did do that step in How to Unhide hidden folders on Windows: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...59#post8287059?
If you haven`t, do it and check again is there a Third_Age_3 folder in virtual store and if is it`s there delete it.

Also, go to your ...\ M2TW\ mods\ Third_Age_3\ data\ text folder and delete all .strings.bin files:

Yes, I alread knew how to find hidden folders (AppData) and I looked in the local/Virtualstore/ and found nothing.

Did both and still the same thing. I'm really getting pi**ed about this because I finally got Kingdoms, and I really wanted this for years now.

Your Kingdoms are patched to 1.5 ( 1.05) version? If not, go here and find a correct patch, you will know which one is correct if you don`t get any error message during update http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...78#post8457678 . Updating to 1.5 is optional, but some people report it helps them with their game.

If your Kingdoms are patched, then one more thing to try before reinstalling TATW, open your Medieval 2 TW game and start a campaign ( it doesn`t matter with whom) , then exit your M2TW and give another try to your TATW. If that doesn`t work, reinstall TATW.

Uninstall it by using Control Panel Uninstall program, after that, delete Third_Age_3 folder in C (or other drive):\ ..\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods.

After deleting this Third_Age_3 folder click on TATW 3.0 part 1 of 2 installer, when it asks u where to install it, if u know the CORRECT path where u installed Medieval 2 Total War and it is the same as the installer points u to by default( C:\ Program Files (x86)\ SEGA\ Medieval 2 Total War ), then procced with installing.

If you installed in another place, then browse the installer to the Medieval 2 Total War folder.

Then install TATW 3.0 part 2 of 2 using the SAME installing path, and I would advise u to install TATW 3.1 patch (using the SAME installing path ofcourse) and then try the game does it work, and can u open campaigns, for battle crashes disable daylight savings (Using Windows 7 or win Vista: Control panel > Date and time > Change time zone > uncheck "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time").

If TATW 3.1 works, procced with installing TATW 3.2 patch (using the SAME installing path ofcourse).
    Hope this helps.

    - I'm using steam, so there is no need to update it. Tried both a Kingdom's campaign and Regular Campaign, didn't work. And currently re-installing to 3.1

NOTE: This seems to be more of a Medieval 2 error. Not a total war error. So I was not surprised when TATW 3.1 didn't work either.

Since you have steam version, it requires different type of installation. In this same Bug and Tech Help forum check out thread "Problems downloading on steam" posted by theman. There is a steam installation instruction( I am not at my PC so can't send you the link). And if your M2TW don't work either, then check the main M2TW Tech Help forum for more help.

Looked at it. Did what they asked. And still, the same problem. I can run all other kingdoms games and M2TW itself. Just running TATW f***s everything up. And I'm starting to get angry with my system.

So, just to be clear, you can play M2TW and Kingdoms without any problem?

    Yep. Not one problem.

You have to use this method:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    1. Install Third Age to your desktop,

use this ˝ ...˝ button from the picture above to point ALL Third Age Installers to Desktop ( it is important to point ALL Third Age Installers to DESKTOP).

    2. The Installers will install files to a folder named mods, open that mods folder ( found on your Desktop), and you will find Third_Age_3 folder in it.

    3. Then do this:

Then rename the Third_Age_3 folder to americas. Finally, select the americas campaign from the Steam menu and the mod should launch.

Did you edit Security for your main M2TW folder Steam/Steamapps/Common/Medieval II Total War/mods? This Step 3 from section How to fix it.
In your first post you say you did this:
Setting permissions (in fact, I already had them checked)
Did the battle which crashed have any reinforcements on either side?

I could never get to a battle. It would crash during the loadout screen (or choosing units).

Delete these two files in the TATW data folder:

    descr_georgraphy_new data base file
    descr_georgraphy_new text document

Can you start a campaign and play it normally (campaign battles too)?

I just got re installing for like the 4th time. So I will try your method Stealth. And no have not tried campaign battles. I went into campaign last night and really didn't bother me until I tried to recruit. Some I could recruit though one unit made me crash again. As well as I autoresolved my battles, which I hated.

Another thing to do is to make sure everything is up to date. Run windows update and check all your drivers: graphics, audio, etc....
