Is my computer good enough?

Hello!

At what settnings should my laptop be able to play Third Age on?

Specs:

Intel Core I7 3630QM 2.4 GHZ (3.6 GHZ with turbo boost) 6MB cache
Nvidia Geforce 640M Le 2GB DDR3
8 GB Ram 1333-1666 MHZ not sure

lol...500 mb Ram are enough to run m2tw..you surely don't know anything about computers...you can run this game on highest setts...

But the MOD is way more demanding on the computer. I played it with maxed out settings with 2 full batalions and it lagged very much. I thought the performance would be better?

Well, John is correct even though he could've said it in a nicer way. Your settings are good, and in fact better than mine. Though I use radeon, so I know nothing about NVidia graphics cards

Well, M2TW engine uses ONLY one CPU core, and it can be lagy if you have 2.4 GHz multi core CPU with max video settings. But your specs should be good enough, boost your CPU and lower or disable some TATW video settings.

What do you mean by boosting my CPU? Do you Think that in theory my computer should be good enough to handle the game, but due to the game being old it's possible that the components don't mix as well as they could?

I have Windows 8 if that matters?

Well, from your first post it says it can work up to 3.6 GHz, only is this amount meant for just one core, but if you can use it to go up to 3.1 or 3.2 then you are good to go.

Your GPU looks good, your RAM is way over the game so that is no problem.

Windows 8, they are new and there are reports for some games having more lag than Windows 7 ( M2TW for example, but it can be due to different system components, who knows) , just be sure to EDIT SECURITY for your main M2TW folder BEFORE installing Third Age TW, otherwise, you will have issues with Virtual Store. Go here and apply step 3 from section How to fix it.

And to prevent battle crashes, disable daylight saving settings, go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time`.
