Harad on E/E or M/M. Propose an alliance to Rhun and you will only have a small area on which you need to concentrate.
In it for the rep.
It is such a quiet thing, to fall. But far more terrible is to admit it.

Harad then High Elves. Both have fairly limited borders with enemies so you don't have to worry as much about.
"Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore it if it be goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world. No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature. Good and bad are but names very readily transferable to that or this; the only right is what is after my constitution; the only wrong what is against it....."

What is the difference between vanilla and Third Age? I thought Third Age TW was the name of the 3.2 vanilla experience.
I am a noob and am having a great time playing Sylvan elves on VH/VH. If you have ceasefire with orcs it becomes you vs. Mordor, who mostly cares about Gondor. I am in turn 200 and have been doing silly stuff like destroying orc buildings because I thought I could not use them, which makes retraining and reinforcement grueling, and I am still viable, if not downright lively. Don't fear the recommended VH/VH settings, play whoever you like and fight every battle is my advice.
Harad is definitely the easiest in my opinion. You only have to worry about Gondor and they are preoccupied with Mordor getting across the River. And don't worry about difficulty. Once you understand the mechanics of a Total War Game they are honestly all pretty easy. Just set the game to Easy/Easy and have fun winning or losing![]()
You look great today.
Rhun! Move your forces in the south to take the rebel settlements on your west until you run into Mordor forces then shift them to the north. With Mordor as an ally they will protect your southern front and the real fun begins. Your forces you have been building in the north can move west into the southern Dale and then strike north into Dwarf territory! Fight until you link up with the Orcs and the world is yours!!!!
Rhun. There are plenty of factions that have relatively easy campaign, but Rhun has the best economy, allowing you more troops than most factions. Also, their unit roster is very varied and can cater to a lot of strategies you might want to try out. Rohan is quite easy as well as you start out overpowered compared to it's direct foe, Isengard, unless you wait too long. Stay away from Isengard, Gondor and Dale campaigns as these are rather "specialist" factions that need a rather specific strategy to make the most of it.
I haven't played Harad in a while but I remember having a very easy campaign with them. Although that was in an older version of TATW.
If you're not into evil factions then you should give High Elves a chance. They should be pretty easy as long as you manage to defend Imladris(Rivendell). It makes for a pretty fun goal as well.
Rhun in my opinion is the easiest faction to play with. Literally no hassle you can steam roll Dale and the Dwarves.
Not bad for a first attempt then. I think he refered to Medieval 2 or Kingdoms by `vanilla`.

Yes you should totally know how to use Medieval Total War in order to begin some campaingn that need experience (Gondor is really hard and need the most experience from the gamer IMO)
I would suggest you to play with a good faction (for many of us is not easy to play with evil ones and less enjoyable) and I think is way better to discover third Age Total War on the side of good people (Plus figthing Gondor as Harad is not good first experience for this mod).
As other said, High Elves are easy as well as Rohan is.
I never played Medieval 2 total war or Kingdoms , bought them to get TATW
Harad is Easy but IMO it sucks, had no fun playing it.
High Elves is easy and Fun.
Many Harad votes you've had.
But play Harad, it's easy (I think, never played with them 'cause I don't like evil factions, but everybody says they are).
But if you're not into evil factions like me, play HE. Their only hard part is the crappy economy, but otherwise it's easy.
Thanks Guys! I'll start a campaign as Harad (:
