What bonuses do generals' command stars give you on the battlefield? In MTW command stars gave troops on the battlefield a bonus to morale. What bonuses do you get in RTW?
Thanks for any help!

as far as im aware (may be wrong) but it is a morale bonus again.
Good Question. I've always wondered this myself. Can someone actually breakdown what this means practically on a battlefield? Like I know what "experience" means practically: it increases the attack & defense stats. But will a 10 star general be able to 'inspire' a crap unit of town militia to fight like a hastati or principe?
its funny, i've been wondering about this (and the management scrolls too for that matter).
i would have to say that it is a morale boost because in my Brutii campaign had two identical armies, one under a six star general and the other under a three star, and the one under the six star guy tended to fight harder, take fewer casualties, and inflict more on the enemy than the former.
It's how well a General can run a city I think. It increases income and suchOriginally Posted by StickShift

I had a feeling that command stars= greater morale and effectiveness of troops on the battlefield. However, I'm a number-cruncher and I'd like to know the exact effect of each point of command. Anyone know?
Absolutely. The more management scrolls a general has, the more money that city produces per turn.Originally Posted by Appius

I cant say this is exact as I dont recall seeing any official statement of how combat works. NobleNick might know..he has been working on combat mechanics.
However..I work on the basis that each star means +1 to attack, defense and morale values. Units within the 'command range' of the commanding general add that generals score to their combat and morale resolutions.
Not only is the value determined by the number of stars but so is its range. Command range of a general is linked to their rating..a 10* has a much bigger battlefield range than a 1*. I dont know if that 10* has the same effect on friendly troops if right next to them or away out at the limit of his 'command range'.
I have frequently observed that the commanding general can initially fail to rally routing troops but moved closer can rally them.

Thanks Severous. That would make sense given that's how MTW works.Originally Posted by Severous
From the manual:
Its also important to note that just because a general shows a certain amount of stars when viewing him in the unit detail scroll does not mean thats what effectiveness he'll have in every battle. For example, a 6-star general with a trait or ancillary that increases effectiveness when attacking will have 6-stars leadership when defending against an attack but 7-stars when initiating the attack. When the battle screen comes up, the actuall battlefield effectiveness of your general for that given battle based on any trait/ancillary bonuses will be displayed by the additional (or in some cases reduced if they have a trait that reduces effectiveness in certain situations) number of stars appropriate for the situation. In a campaign battle, the general's abilities and personality traits can have effects on army morale, unit performance and the combat power of his bodygaurd unit. An army lead by a 7-star general, for example, will preform with greater effectiveness than one under the command of a 1-star general.
Morale mostly, and usually when you have a high star general his bodyguard is very experienced. But the other thing it gives is bonus when autoresolving battles, when you send your high star general to a battle and sutoresolve it his command bonus will be taken into effect. And I would think that the presence of such a great general would also dishearten the enemy.......
Using a 10-star general with autoresolve usually wields better results than when I fight the battles myself. Sad to say, but thats how its calculated.
it disheartens the enemy a bit, but mostly a big moral boost. for example you are 5 stars, the AI is playing on hard mode. if you are 10 stars the AI is playing on very hard mode.

Well must have been a reason with command stars, never really knew that it gives anything else than a morale boost. Now i'm enlighted.
