    Default Ten Balrogs

I'm playing through for the second time as the Dwarves (VH/VH; version 3.1 or 3.2), and finally fought my way to Moria with a beat-up army. I was not surprised to see the garrison script kick in and fill the place with goblins, nor did it give me pause when the Bolrog appeared as expected, but I couldn't help feeling a little exasperated when the besieged army sallied forth led by not one, but a unit of ten balrogs.

I think I can handle one. The crossbows should do it, I've tested it in custom battles. And I have indeed won this victory after an elf army showed up. Between us we killed all the goblins while the Balrogs held the square, then we charged in and got swatted at by 10 BALROGS for four minutes until the time ran down and the day was ours.

But I feel a little cheated. I'd of liked to win fair and square, and fit this bug. Is there a way to alter a unit's stats from a saved game? Is this a problem people have had before? I tried to get a screen-shot and it didn't work. I have a save-file if anyone wants to see it.

Unfortunately, it's a M2TW engine limitation. There is no known way of getting single units on the campaign map. To answer your other question, I don't think it's possible to edit save games.

Thanks guys. After starting from an earlier save I encountered the same problem. After I killed the enemy king ("Grogaz the Peace-loving" or something) in a sortie, the OotMM faction collapsed and Moria turned into a rebel settlement. This replaced the garrison with five units of cave trolls and some marauders. I starved the trolls down to 1 man each and Moria was mine. I gotta say, it was worth the fuss.

wasn't there a thing where if you put in 40 units in your preferences you would get a single hero unit?? or was that only for Arestia......hmm i seem to have forgotten.
