    Default vassalage?

just wondering firstly how to get them and possibly the best way, also is it worth it? Lastly any cool story's about vassalages in your campaign? Like being morder and vassalizing all the evil factions to your will also as a last resort for me to try it all out is there a code that autos a faction to vasaalage?

Usually you have to be on very good relations and be considerably stronger than the other faction, but they will rarely accept vassalage. I've only ever achieved it once with Rohan. I was using the FRoGS sub-mod and on turn 1 Isengard asked for peace. As a joke I demanded that they become my vassal and oddly enough they did which left me free to destroy Dunland (a separate faction in the sub-mod). Obviously this is lore-wise completely inaccurate but it did make for an interesting game. I haven't seen any cheat to vassal someone everytime but I do know that some mods do use a script called total diplomacy which could greatly improve your chances. Hope that helps!

I usually get vassalage with factions I'm exterminating, I mean it is an alternative to wipe them off, as when they are already crushed and willing to make peace with you they will probably accept vassalage too

if IRC it happend with Isengard becoming vassal of HE and Dale of Rhun.

    Ciao

Yes, the only times I have achieved vassalage was when the enemy faction was nearly defeated and I was offering them to get one or two of their home regions back. But getting vassals of the opposite alignment is always risky because they maintain the same enemies and you might get drawn into their conflicts

In my high elves campaign I made the Sylvans my vassals. The war had started because the last surviving OotMM became vassals of the Sylvans and they wanted to defend them...

I only get these offers rarely if I'm at war with that faction and they are nearly wiped out. I always refuse as it is always better to just occupy their lands for economic reasons than to allow them to live and possibly cause problems later on.

I agree with Groningen, I don't like very much vassalage as it might bring to bad things (expecially unexpected wars as Hermes pointed out), in TATW I only tried twice to see if anything different from M2TW; as a general rule with it I only used them when I missed few settlements to reach victory conditions as vassal regions counts on your total number

It has happened to me only twice, both on the same campaign.

1: OoG asked for peace when I was playing FPoE and they had only Gundabad left. I figured out that this was my chance to see what it is like to have a vassal, and so I demanded them to become my vassal. It was "Very Demanding", but they accepted it.

2: I had reformed Arnor and destroyed both OoG and OotMM and was fighting against Isengard, who only had Fangorn and some Rohan village left. Just like with OoG, they asked for peace, I demanded them to become my vassal, and they accepted it.

But to answer your question: As far as I know, the only way to get vassalage if you are way stronger than them, and you're steamrolling them. It may be possible to make a stronger faction your vassal by giving them a god-like amount of money, but I don't know. But is it worth it? Seriously, no. But sometimes it's kinda lore-accurate, like to make all evil factions your vassals when you're playing with Mordor, or make Gondor your vassal as Arnor.

They should give you a regular tribute, but as far as I know, it's bugged, and no money will come out of it.

The amount of punishing required to persuade an enemy to accept vassallage is usually so high that I always decide to make a final push and annex them once for all.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

It's hard to make a faction your vassal because it's mostly '' very demanding ''. However, when I completely destroy my enemy and they only have one city left then the offer that they become my vassal is '' balanced '' and they always accept. Anyways I heard somewhere that you gain the half of your vassals income...but i might be wrong I dont know.
