Really do not get whats up. Cavalry doesn't charge in the cities, neither does the infantry. They just walk on and on. To my surprise the enemies cavalry managed to charge at my infantry, when I sieged Paris with England. Advice anyone????

don't use cav in cities they are shocking. Also you don't have to attack you can starve or force the garrison out with various tricks. Charges can be quite hard to get perfect (broken up easily, can't be to far or to short build up)

depends what troops are actually in the city
if there are heavy spears and cavalry how your gonna win with your cav?unless its more powerful than the garissoned cavs
As awesome as they may be in MTW2, there are still the annoying glitches present in siege battles throughout all TW games. I haven't had your infantry charging problem, but a tip you could use is double-click behind the enemy unit so your unit starts running. Then just at the last minute double-click on the enemy infantry, and your guys should charge.
Highlander is also correct about cav. They can be useful for flanking the town center, but they get bogged down an awful lot due to the narrow streets and you will take unnecessary losses.

Ok, thanks![]()
ill answer the question, the 2 above didnt see it from your perspective:
cavalry, and most other units, have a charge animation that only activates if the unit is still in formation and within range of the enemy. the problem with cities is that cavalry units, thanks to the too narrow streets, cant form properly and thus if you order said unit to charge , because it cant get into formation, it will MARCH into the enemy unit instead.
this is, unfortunately, one of those bugs that was never fixed. i do know that RTW didnt have this, as there was no charge animation, you ordered units to attack and they charged a certain distance away from the enemy, instead of here where the unit needs to prepare first before charging. it was one of the "fixes" of mtw2 over RTW (it wasnt)
it is semi realistic because in real life a unit would have no impact or weight if it didn't form it also gives the disadvantage in melees to units who are running all over the place attacking multiple enemies because only singular men engage and get cut down. There are several bugs like this in cities. It turns the charge into what it should be. Or what I think it should be either lines of knights lining up and charging into each other on a glorious day or peasants getting crushed by charging cavalry
walking in cities and fighting is annoying you have to RClick behind the enemy unit,so more of your troops will flood in and then RClick the unit you wanna attack when the area is filled with your soldiers
